TIM you go on about family values and having both parents.. What is the gaurantee that any parents married or otherwise will stay together for life? Who is to say either one of those parents won't cheat and ruin all the family values he or she ever had? Or even die on you?
It is DIRECT discrimination to disallow single women from NHS sperm donations.

TIM M - again.
Why should a single woman have to pay for it and married couples (who have more disposable income & emotional support ) get it for free? It is wrong to eliminate single women from sperm donation.FYI I have worked every day since leaving school. Now I want children and rather than hedge my bets on a man, why can I not go and forfil my maternal instincts by myself ?
If it is good enough for lesbian and straight couples it is good enough for single straight women.
You talk rubbish matey.

oh and i left school 22 yrs ago. I have paid my whack & my grandfather fought for this country - which includes our national health service.
It is my right to become a mother and the NHS should help me. I realise that there are other things for the NHS to spend money on, but there is not a lot of other use for Frozen sperm is there.

I believe it is because of "family values". But what people don't understand is that just because the woman is single doesn't mean she'll be a bad parent. There are a lot of women out there who got pregnant through a boyfriend and are single mothers yet society doesn't look as heavily down on them. In my opinion as long as the woman feels she's ready to be a mother and can support a child who care's that she's single. Getting a sperm donation would be a much better way of going about having a child for a single woman than finding some guy to get her pregnant. Only way that's safe is if it's a friend who wants to help out.

i am studying health and social care and am studying this topic at the moment and and am trying to make my point valid as to let single women recieve sperm donations on the NHS but i agree with you i think it is stupid but i'm sure soon women will be able to recieve a sperm donation on the NHS even if she is single.

Erm... Family values..... erm.... parental care.... erm how about the fact it costs a lot of money and is used for married couples who are desperate for children but unable to have them naturally.....
erm why would a single woman want a donation from the NHS... oh of course because it would be free.....
We who work in the UK pay for the NHS to help the needy and although I can understand the desire to have a child or the need for a donation..... Why assume it can be had free.
Go private and you can have all you want.

not all single parents can juggle children, job, study, taking care of the home etc. theres always adoption if u want a child and im sure u can adopt a baby if u want one plus you get paid if u adopt a child.

I think it should be restricted to married women and women in a same sex partnership.
If there is the option of bringing a child into the world it should only be applied to a stable environment.
