My legs are more defined than my arms and I would like to put my first tattoo on the outside of my calf. My wife said that is a girl place for a tattoo. I don't see that....

i guess it just depends on whether or not the tattoo itself is girly or manly. i don't buy into the whole "masculine"/ "feminine" tattoo placement crap. if you have the bodypart... then obviously it is masculine since it's on you... a man.
you tell me, this is one of my husband's tattoos, it's on the outside of his calf. is it feminine?

Tattoo Placement For Men

That is not a girly spot. In fact there are no "girly" places if you are getting an awesome tattoo. No one would have a thing to say about a fabulous design across your lower back, around your ankle, across your hips, or anywhere else you chose to stick it as long as it suited you. You could even get flowers done like that if they were wonderful enough and it would still look manly.

How girly a tattoo is isnt about the placement, it's about how the content is stylized.

Have you ever watched any of the tattoo shows on TV? Those guys are inked all over their body. Got to start somewhere so why not the outside of your calf. I have heard they are addicting, so there is a good chance that you will build off of that first one.
Guys with well-formed sexy legs look good with a tattoo there.

it isn't girly at all. The ankle is a more femenine area for a tattoo, but I've seen calf tattoos on both men and women, so it makes it a fairly uni-sex area for a tattoo

I know alot of dudes that have calf tatoo's. Go to any outdoor rock concert during the summer and you'll see hundreds. I think the only spot that I would consider "girly" is the lower back.

No, I think it's a great place for a tattoo, and as for the girliness....my friend is a Marine, and he has a celtic knot cuff all around his calf muscle.....I hope that helps!

Tattoos don't define what sex you are. People think lower back tattoos are girly, but I've seen men with them.

Get the tat wherever you'd like.

Nahhh where ever you feel comfortable with it. That's where you should get it. I'd recommend About.com, I'll put the link. You can see different artists, and pictures of what other people are doing... It helps to research it before you do it, and they have a message board.

: ) Hope this helps.
