We only have 2 closets one 6X4 ft and the other 2x5. They are near packed and we still have a ton of stuff in the living room.

When you don't have enough floor space, the best way to store things is vertically. So get some shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. If you are using a lot of lower bookcases, you are taking up floorspace, but then you have all the wasted space above the bookcase that you can no longer use. That's why you need very tall ones. You can get some inexpensive ones at IKEA. Or if you are slightly handy, you can make some too. If you are using the shelves for things like books and CDs, they look great when they're showing. But if you need to store clothes or other objects, you can always get a curtain rod and some fabric to hang in front to cover the contents. Also, get some attractive boxes or baskets to "hide" other objects that look cluttered.

Target has an under the bed storage unit, i believe its only $10 if your bed has space underneath. Also look for nice boxes that can store things as well as be used for decoration or even seats.

Sort through your stuff and get rid of anything you don't need....haven't used it in a year? Get rid of it. Use the space under your bed for storage. Get creative, and find a piece of furniture you can use, such as an armoir or dresser.

Place what you don't need in storage. That way, you can move stuff back and forth and have a place to put things, and securing them.
