He is a 3 year old lab that is used to wear his collar 99% of the time but now he has an ugly mark, it is literily the fur is messed up! I have tried brushung him, taking it off after a bath and brushing it dry but it does not work! It is realy bad because when I show him the slip leash (showmanship leash) it goes behind his ears and that makes it even more ugly, he is a realy well bred lab and realy handsom, polite and stuff but that is covering his handsom side, how do I get rid if that mark?

Exactly why we never ever leave a collar on one of our show dogs. With a show dog the collar should stay attached to the lead, not on the dog. The collar actually brakes off some of the hair.
The only way to bring back the hair on it's neck is with a stripping knife which promotes new hair growth.

You either leave the collar off permanently or leave it on him. It won't hurt him and it does mean that there is something to grab hold of if he decides to make a run for it [like our dog used to, lol] All our cats had an indent in their fur as well, and were unconcerned by it.

Keep the collar off from now on, only use it when you must or perhaps invest in a halter which you will only use when going outside or whatever. Never in the house, etc.

You'll have to let his hair grow out until it is even again. You can try clipping the surrounding hair to make it a bit faster.

I don't have this problem with rolled leather collars. Try that if you must keep a collar on your dog at all times....
