It cracks me up - it really does!

"In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States. "

Now, I ask you. Can a "news" station which goes to COURT in a LAWSUIT and their official position is that "THERE'S NO LAW SAYING WE HAVE TO TELL THE TRUTH ON THE NEWS" really call themselves a "news" station?

No. Of course not.

Those stations are actual, real, news stations with decades of reliability.

PLUS they didn't go to court for the right to lie.

And I simply adore it when the ignorant bleat out the "Dan Rather" thing.

EVERY SINGLE POINT OF DAN RATHER'S STORY WAS TRUE. So he didn't "verify" a memo. Big deal.

To "the gub" - So sorry, but "Free Speech" never did and never will cover lies, slander, libel, character assassination. Try again!

To PAUL: Oh, goodie! Someone finally brought up the "Number One" argument!!
Let me educate you on something, my friend.
"Popularity" has zilch, nothing, nada to do with quality, integrity, honor, truth.

If a man pulled down his britches by the side of the road, squatted down, and took a bodacious DUMP - people would line up to watch THAT, too.

There's also the IU study that showed the various propaganda techniques that FOX uses. However, I heard them dismiss the study by stating that George Soros gives money to IU.

Hey? Are you aware that you are giving FOX a whole lot of free advertising? People reading this, that don't know what you are talking about will start watching FOX to find out what all the fuss is about! Reality TV! Now then, the last time I checked, we were still in the USA...Land of the Free! Right, wrong or indifferent, we all have the right to choose. YES? If there are Rightwingnuts, what are the left? The right and left lines are not so well defined anymore. Another thing to add to the confusion. At any rate, no it isn't cute. Neither is the overused term "faux". Just say fake, false, untruthful... And, by the way, I have no idea what FOX has done!!! I had more important issues, like getting my spine fused..really! Now, I have to find out what all that is all about!

Everyone knows how Fox News presents the news with a spin aimed at the right wing folks. The problem is the hypocrisy, I recall when Clinton send the troops to Kosovo, Hannity never said any thing about supporting the troops, all what we heard was criticism of Clinton. Few years later, Hannity changes the tone completely because now a Republican president is sending the troops to Iraq and the patriotic thing to do is to support the president hence you support the troops.
Wonder where was that support during Kosovo??
The logic of supporting the troops equate to supporting the president is a flawed logic. I support the troops but not the misguided policies of GWB.

I look at both Fox and other networks and make up my own mind who is spinning the news. So far I have not seen Fox use bogus documents to support a weak story 50 days out of a presidential election.

The travesty here is that with the FCC regulations and mandates being what they are and given it's past actions and censorships, the "Fallacious and Biased" broadcaster should have been repeatedly sanctioned for it's deliberate and repetitive lying and misleading, this does not "serve the community interest" as is mandated in the FCC rules. It does obviously serve the President's interests though, which is why nothing will be done. Propaganda is one of the primary building blocks of Totalitarianism, along with censorship, domestic oppression, excessive military power, etc. Our best hope is to see Faux News for what it is, cranial cavity filler for those with excessive unused space in their shoulder mounted wasteland, '08 will change things, including Fox!

But wait!

There is nothing in the Constitution that explicitly grants anyone the "right to lie." According to "strict constructionist" conservatives, if it's not in the Constitution, it's not a right.

Too bad truth-in-labeling statutes don't apply.
