NEW HEAVENLY JERUSALEM
Rom.11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall
come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from
Jacob:
Rev.14:1-6,7;
Gal.4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Heb.12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living
God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written
in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made
perfect,12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the
blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things that that of Abel.
Rev.3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God,
and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh
down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Rev.20:1-6,12,13;
Rev.21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and
the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 21:2 And I
John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
2Pet.3:13; Isa.65:17;

We are, throughout history, been harking back to the Golden Age, a vision of Utopia, whether it be the garden of Eden, Atlantis, Egypt of the Pharoahs or as in this case a return to King David's or Solomon's Jerusalem. In the days of William Blake the poet, Jerusalem was here in Britain 'built in this fair and pleasant land'. Nowadays many see it as jerUSAlem with the USA being the Utopian dream of heaven. In the future it may well be another planet, with space travel a planet may be found where we hope to find this Utopian paradise.
The trouble with finding Utopia you always create its opposite, Distopia. Heaven is a frame of mind

New Jerusalem as referred to in the Bible is God's heavenly Kingdom.
Heaven as we know it is up above.It is probably another realm as Jehovah God, Christ Jesus and the angels are all spirit creatures.They do not need to be on another planet.
The Bible tells us that Satan and his demons have been thrown out of heaven and are in the vicinity of the earth,yet we cannot see them because they are in another realm - they are spirit creatures.
Moses,Enoch and Elijah are all in the grave,awaiting a resurrection.

Well, the New Jerusalem as described in the Book of Revelation in the Bible, sounds a little like a spaceship descending to earth as I recall.
Christian Allegory: Heaven is the Kingdom of God located on the other side of a river (Pilgrim's Progress).

In Israelite times Jerusalem was gods arrangement for true worship and governing his people as that was where the temple and the priesthood was.
New Jerusalem is the new arrangement spoken of in revelation as the bride of christ. It made up of those annointed by holy spirit to rule as kings and priests with chist in the heavens.

The answer is that the new Jerusalem is a vision not a reality. It is also the summit of vision and longing for a future state of perfection, the spiritual goal of Christians and mystics. St John dreamed of it and we seek its glory as the opposite of the state of earthly chaos and misery we have brought upon ourselves.
However, if the human race is to escape the inevitable destruction of his environment through mismanagement perhaps science will enable him to escape to another planet, thus realising the dream. He'd better hurry up though as time is running out.

Heaven is a spiritual realm which is beyond the scope of human sight , the reason its associated with being above us does not mean its in space. New Jeruslaem, while in heaven is not another planet

The more we learn about space, the other planets in our solar system and beyond, the more a Christian would have to conclude that it is not a material place at all. Or perhaps a higher dimension, analogous to what the three-dimensional world was to A. Square in "Flatland."
Me? I have no trouble believing that it exists only in imagination.

Well the bible teaches there are three levels of heaven, so the new Jerusalem must be from one or the other, but why realy worry about that I just want to go to the heaven that counts

And thus you blow open one of the fundamental concepts of religion, being that the earth is the center of the universe and that the sun orbits us.
"Created the heaven and the earth"
No mention of any other planets, solar systems, etc. And frankly, if all of that was grouped together under the label "heaven" then thats a pretty big ommission!
