You may be right about "most cases," but it's those other cases that raise the issues. Some people do in fact re-evaluate their religious affiliation, especially if they simply cannot believe that the one they were brought up in is true. Also, many people of my generation (baby boomers) have been spending most of our lives looking at different beliefs, challenging the assumptions, trying to find something we can believe in. I didn't decide to chuck it all and admit I'm an atheist until just a couple of months ago, and I'm 60 years old!

I don't know why they have to argue. If the other side believes that their religion is better than others then let them have their way. They cannot force each sides to believe in their views. They don't have to argue..they only need to respect each other. They need to accept what the both sides think..Everyone has the right to say their views and opinions.

We need to make it more acceptable to criticize religions. The problem is people rarely hear criticism of their own religions only others.

It's a psychological mechanism which ensures the religions survival.
Religions that *don't* make their followers believe that their religion is the best,
tend to lose followers quicker than fundamentalist religions.
Hence the religions that survive tend to be fundamentalist.

According to the Old Testament, God is vengeful, wreaking havoc and disaster on people, even those he loved.
The Bible clearly states that the Jewish people are the ones who will, in the end, have God's favor.

People become very attached to their traditions to the point that they are defined by them.
To attack ones religion is to attack their person.
That's just my opinion, but I could be wrong.

Jesus said He is the only way to heaven. The only way to go to heaven and not be sent to eternal hell, is to believe that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again. He is the one sacrifice that gets us to heaven.
