Like believe and you will get Heaven forever.
Don't believe and you will burn in Hell, where there will be unspeakable suffering for eternity.

Don't they see what a turn-off that is? Not to mention an insult to my intelligence and my dignity as a free entity?

some believe the more souls you win, the better the position you will have in heaven, or the closer to God you will be.
it seems that way to me when i hear pastors or priests bragging about how many souls they won for Jesus :)

Threats? Warnings. Just warnings.
Some may see it as a scare tactic, and I suppose some have actually used the truth as such.
The only right motive for telling anyone this part is out of love for the person, and love for God. It is a warning, much like how you would warn someone they're about to be hit by a car if they don't get out of the road.

It's not about threats, bribes, scare tactics, or anything like that. God tells us the law in the Bible. These are the facts. Jesus came and died for our sins so we can have eternal life with God. Whether you choose to believe it, or prefer to deny Him, that won't change those facts or cause God to go away. The choice is up to you, and that's the bottom line.

No, they don't realize how transparent and incredibly unappealing their conversion efforts are.

If they realized that, they would have to actually go out and do the service expected of them by their religion, rather than just telling everyone how great their religion is. Some of them still think that words speak louder than actions.

It depends how a strong a person.

If you are strong enough to stand up for your morals, then what use is religion.

If you can't do good without the fear of hell or the reward of heaven, then there is something wrong with you.

The people who do this do not believe that God loves them and has forgiven them. Many think they can somehow be saved by their works or save people by works. They don't understand God or God's plan. They don't see God's love.

Fear is never a good reason to do anything and God does not use fear.

they either sincerely think that's best for you, or they are scared and lonely. I can't explain how I know that, I just feel it, I never tried to do that though. I respect each one's religion, because I believe everybody has the same God.

Hey, it worked for 2000 years or so. They just need to find a different tack. You can't expect religious institutions to adapt to changing times so rapidly.

it is simple for intelligent people to understand....so make a choice....

if someone tells you to get out of the street because you will get hit by a car, do you consider it intelligent to continue to stand there? Go ahead and stand there, . you will be buried in a dignified coffin.......

Those kind of proselytizing are only coming from the indoctrinated, the brainwashed. They're scared. They just want company.
