When a person is asking or answering a question can you tell how spritual that person is by the words they say?

We do know how much knowledge someone has. It easy to see how much they are not spiritual by the things they say.

Matthew 15:18
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

How often can you say this about someone on here?

Matthew 26:73
And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

"Surely you too are one of them; for even the way you talk gives you away." NASB

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

I think it's difficult at first. I think it takes becoming familiar with them and their writting style. For example around here, it's easier because you can look through their q&a's (unless their private) and see what other answers they've given, etc. But if it's in the form of an email or a real world letter, it's more difficult because you have a limited supply of their writing - and may never have spoken to them. I think around here it becomes easier to tell honesty and then from that infer spirituality.

No, all I can tell is what their level of knowledge of the truth is. Some Atheists can give more Biblical based and true answers than some Christians. Are the Atheists, then, more spiritual than those Christians? Or are they both equally blind?

Edit: A lot of people can talk the talk and not walk the walk. What people say or write means little, we would have to personally meet and get to know the person to tell whether they are on the level spiritually.

Not nearly as much as I can tell it by the way they live.

The Bible says that we will know others "by their fruit". Good trees bear good fruit.

You can sometimes tell things about people by the way they communicate, but not always.

I find that praying for discernment helps a lot. God's Holy Spirit knows us all and can indicate things about another person.

If a person is going to "talk the talk", they also need to "walk the walk"!

I don't think you necessarily can tell. A lot of people have a terrible time expressing themselves. They have no facility for language. Others, out of love, sound crazily overzealous.

Of course, if your witness is peppered with **** words, that's another issue altogether. :-)

How many times have we all walked away from a conversation, spritual or other, and thought, "Darn, I wish I'd said that," because in the heat of the moment, it just came out wrong.

Edit: Afterthought. What are we doing judging anybody else's level of spirituality? That's not our job.

Has there ever been a time when you felt spiritually or emotionally touched by GOD?
You can answer that question by going to my blog and answering that question in my questions profile, OK? Thank You and Peace be with you

It is never a good idea to assume someone is spiritual just by the way they answer a question. Satan himself knows the bible and can speak very well. The bible says to try every spirit to see whether it is of God. Spiritiual people do have a certain way of speaking because we know that life and death is in the power of the tongue.

No! people are so slippery tongued these days, they can talk for hours on something they know almost nothing about, but if you are a true believer you can feel the difference, it is like a sour taste in the back of your mouth, and a good person leaves you feeling fresh and rejuvinated

Sometimes as far as asking or answering questions here. You can't always tell. It is easier to tell when meeting someone in person. That is how you can tell most spiritual people are happier, friendlier, and people tend to say things like "she is such as sweet person, & he is such as likable guy." Now this kind of attitude is where others' notice the other person's spirit. Yes, I know Atheists can be likable, but for spiritual people they can just be sensed that something different about them.

It is sad, but you can only tell how spiritually minded that person is by the words they say when answering a question. The true test is only in seeing how the person acts. Actions speak much louder than words.

No, people can speak with oiled tongues, but be totally deceiving. Someone who's been around spiritual circles long enough can learn all the 'right' words to say. when people say things like "God told me", others seem to bow down and worship them, but people can just say that to sound really holy.
