As I am agnostic I have 2 answers.
The first being that we were created from an image which was conjured with the spiritual deity's mind, as opposed to being molded as replica's of their creator.
The second is spirtual deities are the concept of the human mind, as like social animals we exist within a social ladder, and by having a sinlge pre existing alpha or alternatively multiple, who we cannot compete, were invented by social leaders as a way of preventing rebellion.

Who says we aren't invisible? God is spirit, His spirit is within each living creature, only the outer form can be seen. The 'god' part is invisible.
There is physical DNA and spiritual DNA. When we grow up we'll be just like our Father and we can see Him as He is.
To the caterpillar it's the end, to the butterfly it's the beginning. Neat, huh?

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God has created the spirit of man and woman. The part which is invisible to most humans. God being a "spirit" the "Spirit".
Later on he creates man from the dust of the ground. The phsical body of mortal man.
This is my faith on the situation.
John.

Our spirit/soul is created in God's image. However our physical body is 'fearfully and wonderfully' made by Him. God is a rational being: he has an intellect and a will. We say that we are made in his image because we are also beings with a rational soul; we too have an intellect and a will. Each person in these respects is unique unto themselves.
