There are probably some sins that would prevent one from becoming a priest. However the real problem is when a priest becomes a sinner-if you know what I mean? And I think your question was headed in that direction.

no, not in the Catholic senimaries. there is also a psychological, educational and emotional state of understanding & well being. while all sinners can feel the direction of being called by God, some are unable to withstand the seminary. there are also varying degrees of the priesthood. one man, could not preform certian sacraments because educationally he was not strong enough. he was an amazingly spiritual man who has brought more people to Jesus then most. He was a cappucian monk out of the Detroit Michigan area.
so while all priests are sinners, not all sinners may become priests.

I do not believe that there is a priest out there that would not say that he is a sinner. There are so many things that we do that are not always the best. It is not the fact that someone sins, but the fact that we try to do the best we can and acknowledge our failures.

I'm not very religious, but isn't the whole big idea that we humans are all sinners and Jesus died for all our sins, etc....

So not only can sinners be priests, but in fact all priests are sinners. I'm sure they'd be the first to acknowledge that.
Human frailty, getting kicked out of the garden of eden and all that......

Of course...we are human beings, first of every other thing...
however in recent times, not only a sinner can become a priest (supposedly when repentant of his previous or actual sins), but its easier for a priest to become a sinner.
Just take a look to the recent scandals of paedophilia, and other transgression commited mainly by catholic priests everywhere in the world......

of course, priest is not also perfect, you see..
when you've totally repented and really changed 100% from all your bad habits, they could be someone that show example to other people. but being a priest doesn't mean u're blameless, you make mistakes. people have sinful nature from the infant and we live in a fallen world. our flesh try to do what we want and that's why when we're being tested everyday, it's about daily self-renewal. people are all sinner but it's a matter of heart to change our bad lifesyles, so we can show others that Christ lives in us, and they'll believe it. sometimes, people more into seeing-it that hearing-it..
God bless you

We have all sinned and come short of the Glory of God. In this world none of us are perfect. Therefore, All the clergy are sinners, and Christians are the first to admit that fact.

Sure, why not? Current priests are all "sinners" anyway. The really bad ones have cost their Church billions.
