Good question and a star for you!!!!!!!
A child without knowledge is like a pint glass without beer in it - pointless!
It is however, good to fill the glass and to know that it is good to fill the glass and who would want to grow up ignorant of the joys of a good glass of beer?

Knowledge, no doubt. Like the saying goes 'it is better to be Socrates unhappy, than a pig happy in the mud.' Even if knowledge is in some way harmful it is how we grow, learn and generally develop. To keep any child ignorant would be messing them up more than anything they could learn. Of course there are exceptions to this and everything must be learnt at a certain pace. You probably shouldn't sit a three year old down and try to explain to them how reproduction happens or how their mum isn't there real mum or something like that, they would eitehr freak out or just not understand it. But I think in the end you should want to know everything you can since the more you know the better you are equipped to judge a situation correctly and fairly.

I think most of all, I would wish my child to be happy and safe. While ignorance is bliss and a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. I still think knowledge wins hands down because it has more survival value than ignorance. I think education of our children is a motherhood issue.
Knowledge, in the long run, has made us safer, providing roofs over our heads, heat, and food. On the other hand, our collective ignorance is to blame for so much of the suffering in today's world. As we go about our daily lives we are blissfully unaware that the majority of the population lives and dies under medieval conditions.
I wish people in general had more knowledge, but I think we live in a world that is mostly ignorant.

Wow now that is a hard one because knowledge is power, but too much can change a person. Don't they say ignorance is bliss, well i think it is in certain cases but you cant always keep your kids in the dark about things because its part of growing up. Sometimes it is better to not know about something before it happens because it might not be as bad as you thing. So i think there is good and bad in both, like most things.

Well people do say that ignorance is bliss, but when have ignorant people ever made any positive changes in the world? So I'd want my kid to have knowledge, because I would like for him or her to make a positive difference in this world, and not merely live in a shell and hate everything outside of that shell.

Neither is better. Just different states. I have knowledge in some areas and ignorance in others. I'm glad for both. Being ignorant of what it's like to be a crackhead is fine by me...
Know thyself is also a good credo. In these times, two people can claim knowledge of the facts and still be contradictory... so it depends on what you call "knowledge".
Willfull ignorance comes into play as well... and that stems from a fear of the truth... however you determine that to be.
As far as which I prefer my child know? I'd want my child to be educated, naturally, however... who's truth or facts would I prefer he/she know... yours or mine..... definatly mine.... Just as you would have yours know yours.
Christian.

KNOWLEDGE. Ignorance is bliss as they say. And it is. Before I began researching islam I was just another westerner assuming anyone from the East was a terrorist. I assumed muslim women were submissive and treated badly. All the myths out there - I believe them. Why not? CNN told me so. That's why. Well.... I learned the truth about things and I as I delved deeper and deeper into the subject, constantly asking questions eventually all my questions were answered. Every single one. I've never been more at peace. On the other hand sometimes I wish I didn't know as much as I do or even what I know. But I AM glad I know it.

Ignorance is a curse. More you read about religion, more ignorant are will be about the Truth. In order to get rid of ignorance, we need right knowledge.
Innocence (which a child has) is bliss and complete in itself from all perspectives.
