I've recently applied for a marketing work experience position at pharmacutical company. I've gotten a reply and they say they want to have a chat with me about the opportunities they have for me to work with them.

I'm thinking about wearing a suit to this talk tomorrow. But I'm afraid that I might look over-dressed and too formal. I mean, they wrote on the e-mail that they want to have a chat (not so much of a interview). Errr I don't know. Please help me out? Thanks :)

Definitely wear a suit. They just want you to relax and so they call it a chat. Good luck, and don't worry, I'd hire you.

If you're not too sure, try wearing a co-ordinating jacket and skirt/trousers as opposed to a formal suit or, if you go for the suit option, wear something under it that will look good when you take the jacket off, if you find that it's all very informal.

It's easier to make formal look relaxed than it is to make casual look formal. Many years ago I was asked to visit a potential customer at short notice. Not expecting to be going anywhere that day, I'd gone into the office in casual dress. I didn't feel at all business-like when I made the visit. However, I still landed the order.

Good luck!

The only way you could over dress is to wear a Gown or a Tux. Being the best dressed is something everyone should strive for. If they are casual they will mention your attire and you could put them easily at ease. I have always wore a suit to every job interview I go on an have never been unemployed and usually find a new job when I am unhappy with my current job in 6 months.

I agree that you should dress in a very professional manner. You don't know for sure what they mean by "chat" and I don't think it's wise to risk making a poor first impression by not being dressed professionally. Wear the suit.

Pharmacutical companies are all about company and product image. I would dress to impress. All companies use e-mail these days even Mr. Donald Trump.

well,i think by the nature of your job you have to at least look good since first impression counts alot and can also reveal the way you can be on a typical day.my little advice for you is dress modestly but cool.being in suit isn't bad.it is going to be your first interaction with your employers so i advice you be in suit.
