I received a liver transplant last year and will be writing a second letter to them to update them on my life, but would like to throw in a verse or two to acknowledge their son's death and give thanks for the wonderful gift they have given me. I do go to church, though it's fairly new to me and so I am not sure as to what I should use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have these few to offer - I hope they help.

Psalm 30:5 "For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; weeping may last for a night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning."

Psalm 34:18-19 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his loyal people.

Isaiah 57:18-21 "'I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and to his mourners, creating praise of the lips. Peace, peace to him who isfar and to him who is near,' says the Lord, 'and I will heal him."

Jeremiah 31:13b ...for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Matthew 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not asthe world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

John 16:33 These things have I spoken unto you, that in Me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us–ward.

Romans 8:28 And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to His purpose.

2nd Corinthians 1:3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ. But whether we be afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we be comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort.

1st Thessalonians 4:13-14 But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

2nd Thessalonians 2:16-17 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father which loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

Revelations 21:4 He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared."

I pray that these bring you and your donor's family comfort.

Peace.

Don't complicate this. I love using Bible scripture to say a lot of things. But if it's not with you by God's doing, don't force it, it will only confuse things.

There may be many verses coming to you since you asked the question. But be careful! Ask those you trust with the word of God to look at the verses and tell them what you are planning to do.

I can only imagine how grateful you must be to be a successful recipient, just go with that. If God wants you to use scripture, then He will put it in your heart to do it. Trust Him in all things, especially these things.

Pray about it and read through your bible...
I'm sure God will show you the right one.

How about this,
Rev 21:4 and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more pain sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away.

Its encouraging to see people take interest in sharing the Word of God to others. May God Bless your efforts ; )

The greatest gift you could give them is a life well lived. You have been given a wonderful gift, life.

i agree with Tuberoot: "dont force it" and Debra M: " the greatest gift you could give them is a life well lived"

Write from your heart and keep them always in your prayers asking God to bless and protect them always and that if they didnt know Him that they will come to know Him.

If they are atheist they probably wont aprreciate being preached to....just a thought to keep in mind.

God bless

Just simply tell them what this means to you in your own words, real and from the heart it the best. Tell them you just don't understand what the loss of a child could possibly feel like but you are very grateful that they gave to you out of their pain.
