Catholic is a Christian Faith . Modern Protestants and "NON-denominational" Say that They are Christian Only . Making Catholics and Orthodox and The other denominations "non-Christian". In the Family of the Churches(all OF Christendom) all Churches are Christian and Modern Protestants and "NON-denominational" developed from the Calvinist and Lutheran movements in Western Europe and there for Protestants
*( There was not Protestant Movement in Eastern Europe, hence what they are mostly Orthodox)*
*One More Thing (in wise all knowing Voice) Orthodox where first( all or most of Christendom were Orthodox before the 10th Century) then came The Catholics( Great Schism- 1054 AD) the The Lutherans, Calvinist, Church Of England( Episcopal or Anglican)and then the Fracture of the Protestants( Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, ETC) in the 1700s

Well, you mean Roman Catholic, right? Most Roman Catholics say that they are 'True Christians'. They believe that Jesus told Peter that he would be the one who he would build his church upon. The Roman Catholics ( RC's ) have devised something called Apostolic Procession. Where they claim that there are unbroken lines of Popes through the years starting with the Apostle Peter.
Christian is therefore a term which means different things to different Christian churches.
A Protestant is a Christian who denies any affiliation to the Popes. They in fact are rather against the Pope, for the Popes of the past have persecuted Protestants in the most evil ways. A Protestant believes that God is personally working in their lives to understand the Bible, and His will. Which is contrary to RC teaching that puts the authority upon it's clergy, even up to the Pope.
Many of these two major portions of the Christian church do not like each other. There is a lot of history behind this, and also there is a lot of apparent resentment due to those who claim to be the right one over the other.
What I try to do with all this is show how the RC's continually preaching their church rather than Jesus Christ, who started Christianity in the first place. And in my humble opinion, ought to be the focus of all Protestants, and RC's.
I love some RC's. I know some and pray for them. I however see that the RC church is teaching their people some pretty bad stuff. And so, as you might imagine, it gets pretty gamy at times! lol

If you are a new Christian, then you must have made a decision to accept Christ somewhere? In a church? A Christian is a person that follows the teachings of Christ. A Catholic is still a Christian that belongs specifically to a world-wide religion governed by the Pope of Rome. You can be a Christian anywhere, anytime and it is God that decides your fate, not you.

Catholics are Christians but not all Christians are Catholics. We Catholics consider all Christians our brothers and sisters in Christ and many other Christian denominations consider us the same. Some do not.

Hi mchic
You should study the scriptures for your self. But to give you a quick rundown, In The Old testament God makes it painfully clear how much he h at es anything that distracts us from trusting in him, an invisible spirit. He disciplined the Jews over and over and over, trying to teach them not to have any images or idols. HE H AT ES THEM!
So what can we say about Catholicism? they have more than you can count. Why? They will give you the run around but if you are really borne again, you should be able to see right through their rhetoric.
It is not for true believers to h at e anyone but you must certainly h at e any ideas that take away from a pure relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ.
The leaders also teach that Jesus crowned the virgin, Mary, as the Queen of Heaven and so the people are always adoring her.
This spirit is really the spirit of Anti Christ. The teaching can not be found in the new testament. They follow their own teachings and not those of the Holy Scriptures. This is much like the Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses and a host of other false teachers. beware of them.
Stay in Prayer and in fellow ship with believers and study the scriptures with all your heart and mind every chance you get.
There is only one God and one mediator between man and God; the man Christ Jesus.
The list goes on and on but we are limited for space and time

Many Catholics do not believe that Protestants are Christians; the converse is also true. To those of us who are not Christians (I'm Jewish), their doctrinal differences are small, and I would imagine that most of us consider both groups to be Christians.

Christianity means that you believe Jesus Christ was god. Catholics are a type of Christian. Though the one guy on here is wrong Catholicism was not the first Christian religion. Christians were around long before the Romans developed Catholicism.

it's either you're a Protestant or a Catholic. you just have to choose between the two, because Catholicism is the original Christian religion.

catholics believe in a purgatory, kind of a midway point between heaven and hell to purify you of all the sins you have left. Our duty is to become like saints, and those people who do not become saints go to purgatory to be cleansed of their sins. Many people think this contradicts Jesus death but read scripture it doesnt.

Different traditions mostly, but both are Christian.
You'll find other denominations out there that also have different beliefs about minutia, but they all have the basics down the same.
