"and each shall go their own way"
That has alot to do with it. Mankind over the past 300 years has become "lukewarm" and given nothing more than lip service to religion. Look at the way people in the media damn Christians when we stand up for our Faith. And then compare that to the airtime Britney Spears gets over her kids, or Gay rights, Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump. Its thrown about without Respect, SO much that society today in this wonderful country of ours allows Christianity to be demonized publicly without recourse. If you were a non-believer on the cusp of making your decision to accept Christ into your life, now more than ever, it is a choice that your making AGAINST society as a whole. That's a hard choice to make in some places of this country !!! We don't believe that gay people are gonna be found without fault. We don't believe that its okay to slander God's name yet it happens all the time!! I blame the state of the Church's leaders mostly for the way things have become. Not many teach the truth anymore so that they can fill the pews on Sunday. They want people to come there to pay their bills, not to worship. I have been in many churches that have had this problem and they have all gone to the wayside. There must be a revitalization of Christ in the Church !!
I feel that more people should be in the way of doing something about the current situation, than just sitting around talking about it.

Part of the reason is ( in my opinion ) that those who have responded to His calling are as the Parable of the Sower says:

20 "The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. 22 The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful."

So there are two types of people there. One just fades away, while the other is so busy with worries he cannot grow without the problems being the focus.

So which one am I going to be? I have to ask myself. As we all should! Why not be like this one:

23 "But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."

So what is the focus of the one's you are referring to? Get at the root of their focus, their 'self talk' revealed, and you will see that they have their focus on EVERYTHING except trusting God for what He said.

The world understand the man who has problems and live by them. What the world does not understand is the man who trusts God and is content whether there are problems or not!

Jehovah God gave all humans the gift of free will.Unfortunately for many they choose not to want to get to know God or have a relationship with him.
As Jehovah's Witnesses we spend our time talking to people about God and giving them the opportunity to get to know him and form a relationship with him but many do not want it.

“He will say, ‘Enter into the company of communities who passed away before you – of jinn and men – into the Fire.’” (al-A’raf 7:38)
“If your Lord had so willed, He could have make mankind one people, but they will not cease to dispute except those on whom your Lord has bestowed His mercy. And the word of your Lord will be fulfilled: ‘Certainly I will fill Hell with jinn and men all together.’” (Hud 11:118-119).
“Then they will be thrown into it [the Hellfire] on their faces – they and those straying in evil and the soldiers of Iblees, all together.” (ash-Shu’ara 26:94-95).

Because we are more keen on materialism. God is on second priority. Our spiritualism is based upon materialism (greed and fear), where it should be other way around.
