For right now, understand that the break up is new and she needs time to mourn her loss. So just be a shoulder for her to cry on and an ear for her to vent to.

When enough time has passed, tell her to accept the fact that the relationship is over.

Tell her to be happy for the duration of the relationship. Because it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Some people never experience the joys of loving someone and being loved back.

Finally, tell her to stop wasting tears over someone who isn't crying over her and to move onward and forward with her life.

i'm in that situation right now (7 years down the drain). i'm a guy, but i guess it should be universal for all people who break up, me thinks.

anyway, it hurts like hell. what you need to do, is be there. when she cries, let her cry, don't say shush or something. let her let it all out. there's no time frame for healing. when she wants to talk, let her talk her heart out and some more. she needs all the understanding in the world. a really good game of tennis or any other sport would help. nothing beats exhaustion to numb the pain.

but if your friend was my fiance, let her rot in hell. sorry. :p

Give her some time to cry. This must be devastating. But also push to start moving on. Remind her that now she can look for someone who deserves her.

first tell her that you are there for her, if she needs someone to talk to or to have a shoulder to cry on that you will be there for her. keep being her friend and help her to feel better.

Just tell her that if he is such a jerk now, just think of how bad he would have been after they were married. Just be glad she did not marry and have children before she found out what a jerk he is.
