He's 11, and he's afraid of the dark! Most of his friends aren't anymore! He used to sleep with his light on, but my dad said, the bills are getting higher, so he's gotta sleep with the lights off from now on. And the instant our folks turn out the light, he makes a run for the door! He says, "Mom, Dad, can I sleep with Tommy? Please?" What do we do? Should I move my stuff to his room? It's always a hastle when he transfers to my room at night, and I'm already on the verge of falling asleep, or I have to talk with my girlfriend on the phone!

Well, I remember, when we were kids, our babysitter let us watch The Exorcist...... Since then, he's been afraid of the dark.

You sound like an awesome big brother!!!! Does he have a night light? Does he keep the door open? Both of these can help. Maybe start a reward system...for each night he sleeps in his room without waking anyone up he gets a start on a calender and after each week or month he'll be rewarded...like he gets to choose a movie, gets 10 bucks, can have a friend over....things like that.
Good luck and don't forget your sleep is important too!!! :o)

Your brother should have grown out of this stage by now, and if by turning all the lights out aren't helping and he still afraid of the dark, my only suggestion is to maybe have him see a counsellor. there maybe an underlying problem here that needs professional assistance that neither your parents or yourself can help with. Until then maybe get your father to replace the nightlight, and if he still wants you to sleep with him or within his room, maybe try and make it every second night, not everynight.

No, you need to let him grow up. Stay in his room for a few minutes and talk to him until he is relaxed. Then tell him that you need to go to your room, but thaqt you will be listeing to make sure that he goes to sleep. Tell him that you have been sleepiong in the dark since before you were his age, and nothing has happened to you, so not to worry.

You might try finding out what exactly he is afraid of, and do some logical talking to him, giving him some reassurance that thier is nothing to be afraid of, maybe go into his room until he falls asleep, until you can ease him out of it, and convince him its okay, and there is nothing in the dark that isn't in the light. Good luck!!!

I know! Buy those fake fireplaces and turn it on at night! At least he'll have his own fireplace, like in mansions where every room has a fireplace! Plus, it doubles as a heater! Pretty cool, huh?

Dude, call my mom and ask her if Jeremy can sleep over..... I mean Ted and Jeremy are practically brothers of the heart. Why not try that one out, huh?
