If I were President I would push strongly for the fence at the Border, and to put whatever resources are necessary at the Border in order to keep it closed. Including using the Military to patrol the Border, with full police powers, since contrary to some opinions,it does not violate US law. That is a far cheaper option than paying the Billions in Tax Dollars that Illegals cost society each year.
Then I would greatly increase the penalties for any employer that knowingly hires illegals, preferably making the fines and penalties so steep that the very existence of the business could be threatened by being found knowingly hiring them.
It should also be illegal to administer any form of aid to illegals unless it involves an emergency that could threaten their lives. No schooling,no social services, nothing.
And any state or city that gave any aid to Illegals,or set up a sanctuary policy for Illegals would immediately have 100% of all federal funding cut immediately. I would also like to see Mexico sent a bill for the costs of incarcerating the scores of Illegal Aliens in our prisons, and for the costs of deportation of those caught in the US. Obviously they wouldn't pay,but it at least sends a message.
Then and only then, when the Border is secure, and the vast majority of those here Illegally have been deported, and we have done everything within our power to better run our Visa system, and to better screen those we allow in can we begin to discuss reforming our Immigration rules as far as how many we let in,etc.
I would also ban for Life entry to anyone found to be Illegally in the US,that would have to be a part of any Immigration reform in my opinion.

One thing you don't seem to be hitting on is that they do have a chance to come legally, THEY chose to enter illegally. I may be wrong but i don't think America has banned people from a particular country ever.
Not every illegal alien is poor or comes to America for what you would consider noble reasons.
John Lennon was an extremely talented and wealthy man but he had to spend a huge amount of money fighting deportation because he was at one point a drug user and was arrested on drug charges which apparently was a deport able violation. What i am trying to say is that people are not denied entry into the U.S; people are denied the ability to profit from a crime. Every country has it's poor and at this point in Americas history we are more concerned with our own. We do not like the stranglehold big business has on us and illegal aliens are a tool used by big business to facilitate their greed. We as middle class and below are bearing the burden of this greed and we are feeling the pinch from both big business and their unwitting allies the illegal aliens. This in my opinion has nothing to do with hatred of another people it has more to do with our OWN survival.

U.S. citizens go to jail every day for committing crimes many feel essential for them to survive. As our economy diminishes people are left with little to survive on and commit criminal acts in order for themselves and their families to survive. Regardless of their motivation they are still criminals and must be punished. The same goes for illegal aliens who enter our country illegally. They are committing a crime when they cross the border and every day they remain illegally in the U.S. They may feel justified in what they are doing but they become criminals and are subject to prosecution just like a U.S. citizen is when they commit a crime. There are millions of legal immigrants in the United States who have come here and remain here legally. They are welcomed by the majority of U.S. citizens and we protect them with our laws the same way we prosecute the illegals ones. When anyone comes into our country, legally or illegally, and burns our flag, tears our flag down and puts their flag up, marches in our streets demanding rights and privileges we do not even give our citizens, threaten to overthrow our government, we do not want them. The illegals have embarrassed and caused a lot of trouble for the legals. We need to do a major overhaul on our immigration laws and make it easier and faster for more legal immigration but we can not turn our back on the fact that illegals are criminals; they start out ignoring our laws and continue to do so every day they are here. If I were the president I would put the Army Resereve on the borders (North and South) to reduce the illegal crossing, I would seek out and deport as many illegal aliens (from all countries) as we could find, I would prosecute any citizen, business person, employer, and public officer found supporting illegals or failing to obey our laws, I would rewrite our immigration laws making it faster and easier to enter the United States, I would contract the administration of immigration out establishing nine regions responsible for determining the need for immigrant workers and allow the contractor to recruit workers, process their applications, transport them into the United States, monitor their presence here, ensure they get fair wages and treatment and ensure they leave when their visas are up. Most importantly - I would enforce the laws of the United States!

You forget that the illegals made their country into the mess that it has become and are doing the same to America. It happened in ancient Rome and throughout all history when you had illiterate hordes moving into an area and sucking all of its resources.I say to the illegal mexican, go home and make your country better, fight for it like we anglos did with the indians and British and even each other.

They're called illegal immigrants for a reason. And if we just let everybody in, we'd end up just like the country they left behind. I understand people wanting a better life, but the U.S. government is in place for the benefit of the American citizens, not Mexico's and every other country's. They are a major drain on the economy, since we have to school their children and provide medical care to them. If they are suffering as you say, they should go home. And it's not about hate. It's about the legal process and a secure border. Check out Mexico's southern border where people can be shot trying to cross into Mexico. Cry about that.

I would consider providing a work permit to illegals aliens that have no history of any other crime and their family also has no other crime or gang association. After they have been here an additional ten years, could read and write English, could pass a test on the Constitution, would pledge alliance to the United States, give up citizenship to their former country, have a continued work history and paid taxes, and were crime free--yes citizenship would be allowed.

why do so many of you bleeding heart liberals dont understand basic principles of right and wrong? why is it so difficult for you idiots to wrap the concept around your tiny little brains? If I as an american dont want ANYBODY to break the laws(thats where illegal comes from dummies) then , I am labeled a racist?(you dont even know the definition of racists) but you professional mudslingers throw those terms around almost as fast as you line up for the free government cheese programs.(nothing is free, by the way, another truth that hurts your tiny feelings)

they had a chance.some of them.but some didnt.my b/f came when he was 13 to keep him safe, but there is no visa for that.as he was too young to go to work or marry there was no other option but cross the dessert.now we are going through hell trying to get him legal.there is nothing wrong with the system now.ecept the wait.but that is expected.people need an appointment and i would suppose that they appointment setters are swamped.so they wait.there are many steps to getting here legally.steps means waiting.we all want a better future for our families.lucky for us we were born here.if the Mexican govt. wanted they could make their country better.but they most likely wont.money is power.money is the root of all evil.

the bottom line is they came here illegally and as such they have no right to stay. there are way more people who do not want them here then do. it also seems that if you were to just read some of these posts in immigration you would have a greater understanding of the reasons why we are against illegal immigration. one of the largest reasons is in 1986 there was an amnesty for 2 to 3 million illegals this has encouraged the 12 to 21 million illegals that are now here in the U.S. to come in hopes of another amnesty. read the other questions and answers in immigration we have all answered the same questions many times before. we who oppose illegal immigration have done our homework to come to the conclusions we did. those who support illegal immigration are generally uninformed and base there reasons simply on wanting to be charitable. do you think if we allow the illegals here now to become citizens there will ever be an end to the people in need or simply who just want to come to the U.S.? how many people all over the world do you think want to live in the U.S.? do you believe we have an endless supply of food, water (we already are having water shortages now), land? the U.S. has its share of land that is not really habitable. we make it habitable by bringing in water. if there is an abundance of people it forces wages down, it makes housing more expensive, forces up college tuition etc.etc. think if you have lots of people and short supply all things get more expensive. why do you think other countries have people who are starving and dying of thirst? it's because the land they live on will not support the number of people who live there. you can only subdivide things so much before there is nothing left. think not all land has the ability to grow food or have people live on it, like desert land has to be irrigated to grow food or needs water for people to survive. these are just some of the reasons why it's not feasible to allow illegal immigration to the U.S? it's why we have rules for people to immigrate to the U.S. this is not a simple thing as there will always be people who starve, die of thirst, are murdered and raped do to unrest. the reality is the people who are the most desperate and have the greatest need for help cannot afford to pay to come to the U.S. while the illegals here are bellyaching about how hard their life is and while those that are in the most need to come to the U.S. are dying as i write this. due to the burden on us by the huge influx of illegals the standard of living for the middle class on down to those below the poverty line is made more desperate. that's not the legacy i want to leave for my children. i draw the line at putting my family in poverty to care for another family who violated the law to enter the U.S. we don't have much and all i see is everything getting way more expensive with little to no wage increase. is that what you want to sign on for and what you want for your children?

your not a white united statsian. a true american does not call blacks colored people. that is a racist word. illegals know what they will go through if they come here illegally. by them coming illegally is saying they don't care what we have to say about it. they are selfish and uncaring. they only care about their self's.
