do sit ups and push ups.
also go jogging. it will take more or less about 6 months for a result.. after burnign those unneccesary fats around the stomach area, abs would be more visible.
discipline and patience is the key!

some of these answers are part right diet is a major thing. you also don't want to eat foods that store water, like foods with high sodium content. adding weight to sit ups will make your stomach muscles stronger but not exactly stand out. try doing planks( getting on your elbows and toes tightening your stomach, and not arching your back) do three sets a day holding it for a minute each set. the main thing is you have to burn calories. this is a total body workout and burns a great amount of calories and works the abs by making them stabilize your body. to burn more calories try bear crawls(crawling on your hands and feet without touching your knees)

great abs are made in the kitchen. the ONLY way to achieve a 6-pack is by having low body fat. to see the entire abdominal wall with out having to flex there can be no fat covering up the muscles in the mid-section. abdominal exercises only strengthen the muscles, they have no effect on body fat levels.
the diet that you follow ultimately determines your body composition, not the exercises that you perform.
a low calorie diet of lean proteins, high fiber carbs and plenty of vegetables will provide your body with plenty of nutrients. you have to eat every 3-4 hours from the time you wake up until you go to bed. when you exercise you need to exercise at a high level of intensity to excite the metabolic rate. at the conclusion of exercise you should be noticeably out of breath and unable to hold a normal conversation.

You have to have the genes... Oh, and Bowflex will help. It has this one exercise where you pull the weights down from behind your shoulders, and it utilizes the ab muscles. I never thought it would work but it does.
