if you live in a large enough market, air cargo is a good choice....we always need good help....and it works really well for those in school....the hours are evening and early morning for flight departures and arrivals and that leaves the day free for school....pay is relatively good, especially if you can get in with a company that has a postal contract.....and the chance for a good career is there in management if you stick around....i started as a ramp rat sweeping floors and loading containers and now i'm the general manager and run the show...and alot of others in the industry started that way too while they were in school and made a good career out of it....they usually don't advertise that much....hiring is done alot of times by word of mouth from current employees but if you're interested email me and i'll send you the names of some companies to look for

You can't need a job that badly if you are already ruling out fast food. It may not be an ideal job, but if you need a job, their money is just as good as anywhere else until you can find something better.

I've got a good job managing a movie theatre and I never intend to work in fast food again. But I'm realistic, I know that paying the bills is my first priority and if it came down to it, I'm not too good for fast food.

Check out apprenticeship programs with your state department of labor. these jobs have good (usually union) wages, benefits, and you move up regularly salary-wise. There is usually an educational component (Saturdays in my state) so you get college credits as well. There are hundreds of types of apprenticeship programs--some of these blue-collar jobs pay more than college-level!
