I am doing psychiatric practice for last 30 years. When I started my practice internet was either not available in my region and I was not knowing much about its use. But now I feel it would be much beneficial to my clients.

That depends alot about where you are. And there are a great deal of safe guards you need to put in place. They need to sign a waiver acknowledging that any information they type may become known by an outside party. though you will have a secured connection- the risk is there. They need to have a preexisting relationship with you, as your skill of observation are not as astute in reading pauses in typing, as hand gestures and breathing etc. Its not the greatest idea as it opens you up for additional liabilities, but if you already have a patient relationship there isn't any reason you can't assist them in this way.

Are you sure that emails and chats between therapist and client would be a good thing? After all, therapy involves more than speaking and listening. It also involves observation of things like body language and physical appearance. You wouldn't be able to observe such things through email or chats.
