depends on what camera you are looking for. generally it's either a small point-and-shoot camera or bulkier more professional Digital SLR. and also depends on how much you are willing to spend. assuming you are going for a point-and-shoot camera, i personally like canon (ixus or powershot series) and kodak. color reproduction on both brands is very good as compared to other brands like nikon and sony cyber-shot. you won't go wrong buying a canon camera. look for one with higher ISO setting so you can capture night shots beautifully. and not forgetting one with anti-shake or anti-blur and an optical anti-blur is generally better than a digital one. your best bet - canon. comparing the printouts of sony, canon, olympus, kodak and nikon, canon and kodak give best color. but for DSLR, i recommend nikon. nikon is better for their bigger cameras but not small ones.

Sony Cybershot is wonderful. Usually it's around $200. Look around, you might find deals. On Black Friday,it was for $90 at Best Buy,I believe.

It depends on your budget. For point and shoot, Sony Cybershot family has a few nice cameras to choose from. For SLRs try a Nikon D80, the best bang for your money.

Cannons are pretty good and always done well for me. The ones around $300 are usually good for just using for whatever. And pretty damn durable.
