Hello
I'm just wondering if it's possible to have otoplasty surgery performed while enlisted in the Army and living on post.

Will I be able to have it done right there on post, or will I need to refer to a civilian surgeon?

Will the Army help cover some of the cost?

Thanks

Hi.

If a military doctor says that you need the surgery, the Army will pay for it - all of it.

If there's a military post, there's a military hospital (at least nearby) - the Army's first choice is always to use their own doctors.

So yes - if you can get a doctor to say you need it (mentally or physically) the Army will pay for it. I've known women to get breast augmentations on the Army's dime - they had to convince the docs that they were mentally disturbed because of their lack of assets, so to speak, but they got what they wanted.
