I've seen female postmen (postwomen?), truck drivers, garbagemen (garbagewomen?), firefighters, lawyers, etc...but I have never seen or heard of a female airline pilot. Why is this? I've even heard of female Air Force pilots, but never commercial airline pilots.

Of course there are female airline pilots! You're right, they're not as common as they are in some professions, but airlines don't discriminate. There are a good number of female pilots out there, but if you don't fly alot, you don't really get the chance to see who all is flying!

I have seen them but I agree they are rare. I think a big part of the reason is that most (sorry, don't have good stats) airline pilots are military vets. Same reasoning, the military is changing but is still predominantly male.
