Yes. All beliefs should be put on trial, so to speak, and be scrutinized for their validity, or lack thereof.

No , of course not . They don't need a defence . That is the whole point of Atheism . They DO NOT believe in any
god(s) . They are not telling people to join an organization that takes their money and teaches them a doctrine that can not be supported either logically or scientifically .
If you took them to court they would couter with " WE are being harrased according to the law ." Not believing in something is not a crime . Whereas Christians and Muslims are publishing "information" that they can not prove and which can be proved is not true . This is just a lame Christian atempt at turning around the question to believers " Can you prove the existance of "God" . Atherists do not have to disprove in court the existance of god , the Easter Bunny , Thor , or any other mythological creature .
IF ... IF... IF... the theists could mount ANY sort of a proof that god existed , then they could sue the Atheists for producing false information and they could ( sucessfully ) sue the state schools for the right to have their religion taught in the school . BUT the religious groups can NOT even manage to have a sucessful lawsuit in order to get their most disguised teachings ( AKA Intelligent Design ) into the public schools .

Atheism is simply a NON-BELIEF.
Atheism is not an entity.
Atheism is not a behaviour.
Atheism is not a living, organic life force.
Atheism is not a philosophy.
Atheism is not a cult.
Atheism is not a human being or deity.

So how could you put Atheism 'on trial'???

One should not have to justify a lack of faith as a felt experience or awareness, as acknowledgment of spirit is a highly personal, private dynamic to be explored on an individual basis, not under a communal benchmark that everyone has to subscribe to....

Sweet so it can be proven in a court of law where scientific evidence is highly regarded. Since atheism is about a lack of belief and in most cases based on a lack of evidence that there is a god, I'd say this one is in the bag for atheism. That is unless god received a subpoena and actually shows up.

I would love for you to file a lawsuit against atheists. but what kind of atheists are you going to single out?

the strong atheists
the weak atheists
the republican atheists
the democratic atheists
the militant atheists
the liberal atheists
the communist atheists
the newborn baby atheists
the vegetarian atheists
the straight homophobic atheists
the gay atheists
the bisexual atheists
the straight non-homophobic atheists
the smart atheists
the dumb atheists
the antisocial atheists
etc....

my point is, atheists very about as much or more then there are religions that believe in god/gods. the only thing an atheist has in common with another atheist is the non belief of god/gods. Some atheists even have the very same views as you and the only difference is they do not believe in your god.

Actually, religion should be put on trial, to see if there is any evidence to support it. Absent such evidence, atheism is the logical alternative.

As an athiest I say they should put us on trial, then we would cause to put all other religions on trial as well.

hmmmm ..... the one that claim positive should be put on trial, not the one that claim negative.

When was the last time you see people put on charge for NOT committing a crime? The last time was during the Dark Ages when you HAVE to believe in their god.

No definatley not, it is impossible to put something like that "on trial" In the same respect the Atheist can no more prove there isn't a God, than the believers can prove there is one. thats why death has been and will always be the human delema.

They have no defense, dear one, and their trial will happen in the fullness of time, before the White Throne Judgment.

Interesting question!! God bless!
