I really agree with everything you said. I remember a number of years ago a famous televangelist sobbed on TV and said that God had spoken to him directly and told him that unless the viewers sent his ministry XX millions of dollars within 10 days, he would die! He cried and insisted that God actually said that to him! He got the money, mostly from the trusting people you mentioned, and went on buying the expensive suits and $2,000 watches. His wife kept her personal hairdresser and make-up artist. They kept travelling around in their chauffered limosine and chartered jet. Sad, very sad.

There is a diffidence between tithing and being coned in to giving your money away . I have No problem with a Priest or a Reverend or even a Pastor living comfortably, but a Man of God Should not have or make the Money that The Jerks on TBN, CBN and the other Evangelical types do . When many Russian Priests ( in this country) have two jobs out side that of the church because they don't make the cash need to live, ask for cash for charities and for the "Church" (the maintenance and upkeep, and Admiration costs) before they ask for a pay raise, I makes me sick that these Charlatans Ask for cash and Keep it for them selves, before they help the poor or use it in was to improve the lives of the less fortunate

It's a shame how those televangelists continually ask for money! and this is merely praying on the widows and elderly!
Jesus Christ said, " You received fee, give free" (Matthew 10:8)
WHAT'S WITH THOSE MEN?
Our heavenly father never promised his followers anything more than "substanance and covering", nowhere in the bible does it say that His followers are to have riches.
as far as those $2000 suits those charlatans were, why , compare that to what Jesus had : the bible says, " the son of man has no where to lay down his head." (Matthew 8:20)
curiosa, I think you already know the answer to your question, "is that right"
to see those types of people in action really breaks my heart when I think of the people that are taken in by their winsome words

It's so totally wrong ...
God's message which comes down through the teachings of Jesus is free to all peoples.. but TBN's message has a price tag.
Jesus worked miracles on the lame and the sick and feed the poor .. TBN feeds their "poor wallets" with their " lame" pleas because of their "sickness" known as greed.
their book says it best:
1 Timothy 6:10 : "for the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs."
( and they have the audacity to tell me i am going to hell..HMMM .. guess i will see them there then hu? ... LOL )

The same way I feel about churches pass the collection plate, it's all a ripe off, we where never told to contribute to the learning of God, this teaching was to be free not a price on it in any way, but we insist on coming together in a building not spreading the word freely.

A fool and his money are soon parted. When Christian giving is reduced to a business transaction with God--stinking pooh!
Have you ever noticed it is always God wants you to give money to THEM for the blessing which will come after. Like they have it in tight with the Big Guy.
I would like to turn the table on these con artists and before they open their mouth yell out--"Evangelist, I just heard the voice of God, yes, it is God. He told me to tell YOU to give me $2000, and He, Almighty God, will give your unselfish ministry a million in return". Then stand there with tears running down my cheeks and my hand out.

Misuse of money.. a TRUE christian who had that much money DONATED to them.. would help feed the hungry and help the sick etc. in their church or a charity.
It is wrong. It is exploitation.
There is nothing wrong with a pastor of a church having a decent house and car to drive or sending his kids to college... but to have mansions and Bentleys..whatever.. while there are people under their noses starving.. its unnecessary and UNCHRISTIAN!!!!!

Its a sham!! And the people who lavish money on snake oil tele-evangelists are fools for doing so. Dont you think god would be more pleased and give you more blessings if you gave that money to a homeless shelter or charity? Rather to some one who blatantly uses it for their own personal profit?----
Go forth and prosper doesnt mean to take from the poor and give to ones self!

I don't agree with it at all. No matter what field people are in, there will always be those who are in it for crafty reasons. I don't think there is anything wrong with having nice things, but that shouldn't be the main goal. I think it is important to use common sense when dealing with people who claim one thing, but do the total opposite.

The love of money is the root of all evil. Money is a necessity, but they should do something better on Christian TV than beg for money, maybe like proclaiming the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ!
