Because you're repentance has not been sincere, you must make a sacrifice of something dear to you by giving it to the poor or needy. If you don't have something to give then sacrifice an animal, like a goat or sheep, and distribute 1/3rd of the meat to the poor, 1/3rd to your family and keep 1/3rd for yourself (or give your 3rd to the poor). Recite Sura Taubah 7 times and give charity to the poor. Give the maximum you can afford, like $100 or $1000.
Then make proper Wudu (purification) and offer 2 Rakat salat-ul-taubah and beg and cry before Allah for forgiveness. If tears do not fall, your forgiveness may not be acceptable. Then you must promise Allah you will never do it again and then don't. You will be like a brand new sinless baby.
If you do go back to the sin, then you will have to seek help. For example, if you are addicted to a drug, you must go into rehab. If you are addicted to something else (like a bad habit) then find someone or some group that can help you rehabilitate.
By the way, if you do not live in a Muslim country, do NOT carry out any Sharia punishment on yourself. Only a judge can order something like your hand being cut off... you are not allowed to in a non-Muslim country. You must follow the laws of the land. If you did something criminal, you may need to turn yourself into the police.
If this is too hard for you, recite the Dziker of Allah by saying "Ya-Ghafoor" (O Most Forgiving) 25 thousand times and Salawat on the Prophet Muhammad (SWS) 25 thousand times, make Salatul Taubah and quit the sin.
Also, do not believe what Christians tell you about Jesus dying for your sin. That is a false belief as Jesus did not die nor can he take the burden of sin on someone else's behalf. Insha Allah, may Allah accept.

People of all faiths have encountered this challenge you speak of..repeatedly having to ask for forgiveness, and to repeatedly feel the need to repent of wrong doings. This is quite normal no matter what your faith may be. No religion has the right to tell you how this should be done. For this can only be found within the soul, by deciding that you wish to be in alignment with the all powerful Creator of the universe. God is a good God. And there is only one God. Each of us are loved by this one God. and each of us is understood by this one God. Give love and understanding to your own soul, and you will find that this one God will be quick to forgive you for all things. Give love to all humanity and you will be like that one God. By doing so, you will show respect of His forgiveness for you. When the world is through, mankind will rub his collective eye and say, my my my, there really is only one God, and I am a part of his existence in love and peace and understanding. In that great day all of mankind will be pulled into the breast of God, as brothers. May the God of all that is, bring you peace, for you are loved, as much as you have loved all others. Peace.

im not sure i understand your question. if you have done alot of things in the past that you aint proud of and you kept your self that you will not do them again you kept on doin them and now you want to stop for good ? if so, then its not recommened that you tell your sins to people its between you and god you dont actually have to be puinshed to be forgiven
forgiveness can come in two ways one apology or get puinshed
apology:
1)never do them again
2)return back everything you have taken from people
and some two others lol but i 4got
or puinshment:
which is actually not recommoned if you have stolen something you can just get ur hands cut off or ask for forgiveness between you and god and return the things u stolen
if u get ur hands cut off then ur forgiven if u return things u stole and apology to god ur forgiven see which easier for you

Allah subhan a hu has said that i forgive for the wrong deeds as long as he is sincere and really ask for forgiveness and promises to not to do it again.
Make your heart clean from all sins and promise not to do again. and to avoid sins you should offer dua , prayers and sadka in his way. He would definately would clean you up and you would find your self really satisfied and feel that allah is with you.

In Islam no one between God Almighty and man / woman.
You know how serious you are and God Almighty off course knows very well.
Others can only pray for you to God Almighty.
Others can pray to God Almighty to give you wisdom and fore sightedness, so you may understand consequences of wrong doings and fruits of good deeds.
I pray for you, for me, and in general for every one to understand Islam, religion of Prophet Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad ( p.b.u. them all).
I pray to God Almighty to keep us firm on right path, shown by Prophets of God Almighty. Amen.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

You will find it impossible to repent and turn away from sin on your own.
Seek true forgiveness in Christ and allow Him to make the change in you from His power.
