"Aren't you being as annoyingly fanatical as any overly fervent Christian?"
Well, let's put it this way, there are always going to be groups of people that take the extremist position (even in politics, haha). So let's just let THEM feud, and try to learn something amongst ourselves. =)

I'm not Christian and I'm not an athiest so I think that classifies me as agnostic?
Anyway, i think that those people who try and "save" christians are the ones that are truly delusional.
This goes to everyone of every religion:
RELIGION IS A CHIOCE.
and everyone is entitled to thier own oppinion. If Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism or even Scientology makes you happy then do it. I dont think anyone else on earth has the right to tell you what you are supposed to do be or believe. and yes, i think its okay to try to inform and "enlighten" people of your religion as long as its not imposing, dont push your religion on anyone. no matter what religion that is, you can voice your oppinion, but who are you to push anything on anyone?
just have respect for yourself and others

Because irrational thought is always destructive. In the case of religion, people devote innumerable hours and dollars into pursuits which are of no benefit either to individuals or to society at large; we would all be better off if this wastage were to end. Furthermore, one cannot draw a fine line between where rational thought is useful and where irrational thought is destructive; consider the 9/11 highjackers.

Why do religious people do the same? I dont see any atheists going around knocking on doors trying to convert people, but i sure as hell see alot of religious people doing it....
I dont try to convert anyone into being an atheist, i merely try to challenge there belief system, and i wish them to do the same to me too... I like to hear about what others believe in, and i like to be challenged in my own beliefs too...
It annoys me when people get so defensive when i start to challenge or discuss things like this with them, because i expect the same respect that i am giving them, and i often dont get it.... I also will never understand why some people choose to believe blindly, as in they wont even discuss or even listen to another opinion.... they will not let there beliefs be challenged.
I love it when my person beleif system is challenged, because i look at it as a way that i can learn something new, maybe my mind can be opend up to some new ideas? People need to stop thinking that listening and taking on board other ideas isn't being a pushover, it isn't being manipulated or converted, its just opening up your own mind because you can choose to interpret it any way you wish.....
Having said that, if anyone would like to discuss religion with me, and is open to any interesting discussion please email me, im up for a bit of thought provoking discussion.....
(oh and, i dont have a problem with anyone who beleive in god or doesnt beleive in god, each to there own... I just expect people to have done at least a little research into what they beleive and to be able to discuss it without getting annoyed that someone is challanging what they beleive, open your minds people! discussion is a valuable, wonderfull tool! Dont close your mind off to the world just because you are stuck in your ways!)

Because they have no business voting and deciding on major issues that affect ALL of us. Would you let a child run a company? That's ridiculous, right? Why would you let an irrational or ignorant person (or group of people in this case) decide on important things?
For example, climate change. Even a 'moderate' Christian might view the issue from a religious POV (e.g. resurrection, etc) and might not make a decision that is logical or sound.

It does not matter what religion you are, or even if you are an Atheist.
In Life you learn, but should not try and impart your beliefs on others, this the problem with fanatical religions.
Christian, Muslim, especially think their beliefs are the only true religion.
Well in time they will learn, but while they are on this Earth, they do so much harm?

The militant atheists ARE as bad as any Extremist Fundamentalist Religionist.
Being a Hellenic Polytheist, I get it from both sides so I'm used to the criticism. I ignore the Anti-theists as well as the Militant Fundies.....

And vice versa. Telling people that their beliefs are wrong and physically harmful when, in fact, they are not hurting anyone is always wrong.
It's true, atheists can be as bad as Christians. But most of us are all right.

That's a good question, Angel Drawers. Some of them are doing the very same thing that they accuse Christians of doing.

They do not need to be saved from themselves.
I, as an atheist, am completely content leaving them alone. However, if some of them starts trying to "save" me by witnessing, proselytizing, preaching to me, then I can have my say too, can't I?
