so here is what happened.... Im done with meps and am now waiting to be shipped to basic in april.... But I have to keep contact with my recruiter, and he said that he will pop random drug test on me...
Well some things happened and I inhaled THC thinking it was a cigarette while at a local party... If I get drug tested could I get charges or be dishonorably dischargered from the military?

Ok first of all I AM GOIN IN APRIL... second of all my recruiter doesnt take me down to meps for the drug test... .they do it themselves.

Yep, more than likely you will experience ZERO tolerance. Depending on the situation, you will be either discharged (probably less than honorable) or if found to be difficult in proceeding or in possession it is off to Leavenworth. Since they have little to nothing invested in you at this point, probably just let you off with a discharge. NO time for dopeheads in the military, no matter what the excuse - and there is no good excuse, my friend. Accidentally smoked a joint??? I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. Get cleaned up now and stay away from the bad influences and you might be okay. Pray they don't test you in the near future.

You'll get in trouble and is supposed to have the process started where you get kicked out of the military. But with my 10+ years of experience, the army is hurting so they are finding all the reasons to keep people in or recruit them so they will find some way to let it slide. If you smoke too much and won't stop then you'll be sent to jail for about a month or two and then they'll decide from there. You will definitely not get a dishonorable discharge. You basically have to commit a war crime or kill a general to have that happen. If you do get discharged it will be a general discharge under honorable conditions.

you weren't sick, you were high and you just had a bad trip. The weed might have been old. If it was brown or not as 'crisp' it was probably 'dirt' or bad weed. Also, the weed could have been laced with something (ex. coke). Buy from someone else if you are going to do it again. ALSO. Remember this-- You can smoke however much you want. Since you're new to it, you probably have a low tolerance. You will feel like you're dreaming and you might think that you're going to die or have a heart attack. You aren't. You can't OD weed. You just fall asleep if you do too much. If you want a really crazy trip, try drinking a monster before you do it. Just remember, you're not gonna die, just chill and enjoy your high. Enjoy it while it's new. (:

Just inhaled, you aren't Bill Clinton by any chance. Good job, you will be kicked out of the military before you even start. I am willing to bet that during your week of processing before basic you will have a whizquiz. So yes, in fact the UCMJ is even stricter than civilian law, you will get into some very deep trouble

You can be tested by the recruiter at any time, the branch of service your going into can dismiss you if you are found to have been under the influence of a substance for misconduct, because once you sign the enlistment papers, you are considered to be in the service from that point on until seperated.

Since you haven't gone through basic or AIT yet...(army..sorry if oyu aren't)...then you will just be .."let go" i guess. You wont have the option of joining anymore..but you wont have any kind of discharge either. entry level seperation is what it will be called. So it will show as if you were never in the military at all.
And you can get in a lot of trouble with weed. Its not aloud. I wouldnt say anything to your recruiter and usually they are pretty layed back to taking random ones because well..then they actually have to go about getting you there and getting you to drop and yeah. so. dont worry about it. you have a while until basic. just..be more careful at parties champ.

U know your friends and if u really want to go in the Military its time to change dont use this as an excuse. You can tell the difference in the smell nice try though. Learn from this and move on

You have not fully enlisted yet, you are not subject to the UCMJ as described in Article 2.
Plus no one will believe you for "thinking" it was something else. If you "honestly did think it was something else, it was a poor decision on your part to put yourself in that position, and you should still expect no sympathy.
If you do get in know that most believe "The stupid shall be punished".

Until you have sworn in a second time at MEPS, the day you leave for basic training, you are not "enlisted." They might deny your enlistment, but until you get through basic, there's no such thing as a "discharge"...

The Military has absolutely no tolerance for using drugs. None! Stay clean.
