i plugged my altec lansing speaker to my avr's 220v outlet... is it ok? and also what outlet voltage can i plug my 120v ?

No! you'll get the shock of your life...maybe burn up something too!

120 is just a regular outlet 220 is for like air conditioners,electric dryers etc.. if you plug a 120v into a 220 outlet it will fry it and you will have the possibly of getting shocked or even shorting it out and starting a fire.

if you plus a 120 into 220 most of the time it will mess up the item that you did it with .

At my work we had that problem with a scale .. it made it smoke
