Is it even possible to get a perfect score? I think perfect is a 925. I have a 906 and have never had a blemish. Just wondering how they came up with 906. Would having all these dumb credit cards that want to preapprove me, snooping in my credit file, drop my score??

My score came from a credit report from TransUnion TransRisk 2.0 and they score credit between 400 and 925 is what the credit report says.

Your score of 906 on TransUnion's TransRisk 2.0 is different from the normal FICO score that most people talk about when referring to credit scores and the 850 limit.

If your score is 906 out of 925, then I'd say you're in very good shape.

A perfect credit score is probably attainable. I don't think you need a super-high income to get it. Just a good long credit history with perfect or near-perfect payments.

The pre-approved offers don't dink your score. You can stop them by opting out. Then you'll have less mail to shred!

850 is the maximum . I have a score that ranges 740-780 . The only people that have a perfect score are people that have decent credit limits with zero balances with no divorces , recent moves , and good income from the same employer for a number of years .

The average age of the accounts are also big factors.

The pre-approved offers do not affect your score unless you accept them . The new card will only drop your score a few points for that month .

However , each new account will lower the average age of your accounts .

Your credit score is the product of your income/wealth, total available credit, debt history, and payment history. Having many credit cards might hurt your score in the short run because credit bureaus don't know what you're accumulating credit for. If you hold the cards without using them they will improve your score by improving your debt/credit and debt/income ratios.

As a side note you should also check your score with the other credit bureaus and compare them. You are entitled to one free credit report per year from each company (do not go to freecreditreport.com, go directly to TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax). Later on down the road when you are trying to buy a house, buy a copy of your credit report from Fair Isaac - banks use their score when determining mortgage offers.

It's hard to get a perfect credit score, but your 906 isn't making sense to me! Credit scores range from 300 to 850.

Read my website for more information on this because it is too long to post here. Look for the "how credit scoring works" section as I went into detail on this.

I had my ID stolen and went into bankruptcy afterward because this wasn't such a popular crime at the time but this is something I know about!

I got my score up from 486 to 730 in a little over a year!

you cannot have a 906 the highest is 850 and to acclaim a score like that youd have to have well established credit line for over 20 years also have a income of at least $100000 a year

yep - max is 850.
yes - can be achieved - knew a Lady who was retiring from a Credit Union - hers was perfect

There are over 1,700 components to a credit score

best to do
1. Pay all bills on time
2. make more than minimum payments
3. never 'max out' all cards in hand
4. never apply for a new card every week - shows you are desperate for credit
5. keep a stable job

all the best
