what got you started?
for me... i saw some and stole it and wallah!

Stupidity got me started I was 7 & my gramma had just quit smoking & threw out an entire carton of benson & hedges menthol light 100's. I snuck them out of the trash, grabbed a book of matches & went on a walk round the neighborhood, I lit up & nearly coughed my lungs out . But that didnt stop me, I kept trying & kept tying until I could smoke like the "cool" people (withought coughing) & I thought it made me look older too... I WAS 7!! WTF? I had problems. my gramma found out after I finished the carton because I stupidly threw it away in the trash & didnt bury it welll enough under other garbage. She said well your a smoker now, & from then until I was old enough to get a job she bought me cigarettes those benson & hedges menthol light 100's.... I am now 29 (gramma died a few days ago) & I quit 2 years ago, with one or two sneaks when I had been drinking with friends. all my friends smoke, so its hard to hang with them. but everyone knows QUIT when you can, this crap will kill you.

Like I said , we were young and stupid. We stole a few from my mothers purse, just to try it out. Of course, we didn't inhale. Then we bought some cigs, u could be any age to buy. No one knew they were harmful then. Shoot, I even heard them (smokers) to try a menthol cig for cold and sore throat. anyway, back to the cigs we bought, we took them with us to the drive-in movie and smoked them there. We felt big and grown up because we had seen our parents do it, but of course we still weren't inhaling. I started inhaling when I was dating my first husband and I was bumming off of him and he told me "If you are going to smoke my cigs you are going to inhale and stop wasting them, so I did , got sick as a dog, but kept on cause I felt grown up. Thats been over 40 yr.s ago and here I am.

my friends did it so i figured i would, I wouldn't say peer pressure but I would say more along the lines of just did it without thinking. When you are 16 you don't ever think you'll get addicted. Now i'm 20, on my 3rd day quitting and going literally nuts right now with a calc test and organic chemistry quiz tomorrow.

1st time was to fit in with a guy from school the 1st time we were together away from. after that the nic. just got me hooked

my grandma...i was her favorite ...she smoked i knew that i would...hit 17 bought marlboro lights for a buck ten back when 100's actually cost more..biggest mistake i ever made..i wish i had never started

My older Sister....I remember I thought she looked so cool and I wanted to be just like her....And now we are both trying to quit!, we don't look cool anymore :-(
