This is a common myth, wearing glasses that were prescribed for you can definitely not make your eyesight any worse.
They relieve your eyes from over-focusing.

I'm always amazed at how many people who have no clue, give an answer as if it was fact.
The other optician who gave you an answer is the right one...nevermind all the rest.
A lens in front of your eye , such as in your glasses, CAN NOT make the visual problem you have, better or worse.
All it can do is make the condition you have more comfortable to live with.
If you find you don't need them all the time, and feel comfortable without them, then don't wear them.
Your eyes will not get better or worse, whether you wear them or not. It is just a question of comfort.

It depends on the problem. If you have hyperopia where you can see far but not close objects, your eyes will gradually worsen. The close objects need a powerful lens to be focussed on the retina, and over time the lens in our eye becomes less "powerful" (i.e. the muscles that flex it become weaker with age, and the lens becomes more stiff with age).
I am not sure what the problem is with your 20/25:20/75...
Myopic vision (seeing close but not far) actually can improve with age as seeing far requires the lens to be less powerful, or more relaxed, which happens just like in the above example with age. This "weakening" of lens power is called "Presbyopia."
The fact that both eyes are different confuses this for me a little.
Wearing glasses for Hyperopia (seeing far) might make the eyes worse as the muscles will not get as much of a work-out to flex the lens and become weaker over time... but I do not know that for sure.
With myopia the eyes might become accustomed to relaxing and having the light focussed for them, weakening the muscles and making far images easier to focus.
This is all loosely based theory.

WOW! Lot's of wrong answers here.
Wearing glasses doesn't make your eyes worse. Here's what wearing glasses WILL do:
You will see better when you have them on. You will have fewer headaches. You will less eye fatigue. You will strain your eyes less.
Wearing glasses doesn't make your eyes worse. Glasses do not make your eyes change faster. Not wearing glasses will not make your eyes worse. Not wearing your glasses WILL give you headaches, strain your eyes, cause eye fatigue. Not to mention, things will be not be as clear as they are with your glasses on.
Why does everyone seem to think this? I never knew so many folks were under the impression that its the glasses making their eye change. Your eyes change on their own time table, with or without glasses. If you don't wear your glasses when you need to, you will cause yourself headaches and eye strain, but it will not cause your eyes to change at a faster rate. Your glasses only make things clearer while you have them on, and by comparison, things seem blurrier when you take them off and that's because while wearing them, your brain and eyes were able to relax and stop straining to see things. Your eyes and brain prefer to not have to work so hard and they shouldn't have to.

Wearing glasses can't hurt your eyes. They are made to correct focus at a certain distance. If you wear them for looking at the wrong distance, they can strain your eyes and make them get tired faster, but they can't do any damage. So if they help in a certain situation, then wear them. If not, then if don't make it harder to see, wear them or not, your choice.

Hi there,
I don't trust laser surgery. I'm trying to improve my vision naturally with simple eye exercises. This is the method I'm following http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=413
It's the best choice.
Good Bye

I think so...I have very similar vision to you and only used my glasses to see the blackboard. I found myself now relying on glasses to watch TV and other things. Over the summer, I didn't wear my glasses at all seeing as I did not need them for school. I have not put my glasses on since. I feel I see much better without glasses now, then when I was wearing glasses regularly. I still cannot see small text on blackboards, but I live with it. But I am 16 years old and have no idea how this will affect my eye sight long term.

Well, i'm near-sighted kind of like your right eye. I tried on reading glasses once and it just made everything blurry, as reading glasses are for far-sighted people. I wear glasses to see the board at school, but you have to have the optometrist prescribe them to you.
And your eyes will only adjust if you get correction glasses/lenses
