Not those that are evidently backwards when played forward, but the ones which there is no traces when played forward.
What do believe are their origins?

I feel sorry for you as I can see if a "truly" devine message is delivered to you by someone who by your account is below you...you will not believe

Anon Lutheran: My concern is with the ones that NOT obvious. My point being that if it is impossible for man to accomplish these not so obvious messages, and if they are accidental why always the same type of messages Satan this Satan that, then it must be spiritual, and this gives credence to a belief in God and the spiritual realm that many here deny. I don't seek Satan, he seeks ME, and YOU, and all of mankind.

My opinion is that they exist, and it makes sense since the Bible tells us that Satan was once an angel and he was in charge of praise and worship and I even believe it says that his body was made of a musical instrument, so the easiest way for him to reach us would be through music

The only case of this that I am personally aware of, was back when there was a big "backward masking" scare among Christians in the early 80s. The Christian rock band Petra, realizing that silly people on a witch hunt were gonna play their albums backwards, put a really obvious backwards recording between two tracks. When played backwards, it said:
"What are you looking for the devil for, when you ought to be looking for the Lord?"

Why do you care what believers and non-believers think?
Why not ask over in the psychology section? This phenomenon is extremely well studied and researched.
Those that are intentionally there have no psychological effect (backward masking is bunk).
Those that are not intentionally there are accoustic shadows - the brain evolved to be a pattern recognition system so will seek out patterns even in random noise.

Are they still doing this? I remember the "Paul is dead" one from the Beatles album 30 some odd years ago. I spent hours as a kid trying to find it... never did.
Now, sync up Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz...there's a trip for you! That does work....
Old tales always come around again. I love it!
Merry Christmas!

Congress passed a secret law to put backwards messages in our rock records. They're trying to kill rock n roll man because they know it makes us horny
seriously though it's nothing special put any record on backwards and there's a good chance there will be a "message".

the majority of them are quite accidental and unknown to the people that are doing the music. Some fool comes along and dreams up foolish things and call it subliminal messages.

I think it's a PR con job cooked up by clever marketing people, to get gullible people to buy the music, just to play it backwards.

You'll be amazed at what people hear when the music plays forward. It therefore doesn't surprise me that they hear things backwards as well.

The Led Zeppelin one is hilarious.
"Oh here's to my sweet Satan.
The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan.
He will give those with him 666.
There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad Satan."

As an atheist, I have to say, I staunchly support backwards audio in music, and whatever other mediums it can find its way into... "Wort wort wort!" indeed Mr. Alien, "wort wort wort" indeed.
