The word rapture does not appear in the bible but the teaching of the rapture does. The moment when the church, the bride of Christ will be caught up to heaven to be with him. It will happen in a moment in the twinkle of an eye, at the sounding of the trumpet of God. It will happen when everyone goes about their ordinary lives thinking it will never take place. It will leave behind many people who be caught up in a deception of thinking that these people who are gone have died or some other explanation other that God coming to get them. It will mark the beginning of the tribulation period the bible talks about. It will mark the beginning of the judgement of God's people and the future judgement of the wicked. It will be a time when the antichrist will appear......

I absolutely cannot say this is from God, but twice in my life so far, I have had this vivid dream of the world... i.e., my reality... fading away into bright light. By fading, I don't mean that is was like the turning down the light with a dimmer switch, nor like turning down the brightness control on your computer monitor... more like a "melting away" of a sheet of wax if you tossed it onto a fire.
The reason I associate this with a concept of the "rapture," is that, the instant I realized what was happening, and I began thinking about THIS world... my children, my family... the melting away stopped and I was instantly back in the reality of the moment.
Again, I know that God has spoken to people through dreams, and I also do not believe this was a message to me from God, but I do apply it to the biblical concept that, once we are called to serve the Lord, there is no turning back. There are two NT examples cited by Jesus regarding this fact:
1. In Luke 9:62, Luke quotes the Lord as saying, "But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
2. Again in Luke, Chapter 17:31-32. Jesus refers to Lot's wife who was turned to a pillar of salt as she turned away from her certain salvation back to her longing for the things of the world. Jesus said, “In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
