To all those people who lived in both cities. I know Melbourne is a bigger city but still I needed to know, how is the living standard & facilities in Wollongong compared to Melbourne.
I've an option to move to Wollongong for work purpose for a while. The key factors I'm considering are, house rent, availability of public transport, transport fare, weather, people, super markets & general cost of living.
Any answer would be much much appreciated. Thanks...

The Gong will be cheaper but not as "trendy" as Melbourne. Public transport might not be as good either.
But Melbourne will be a lot more expensive - for sure.
Sydney is only a stone throw away form the Gong, though.

The Gong (Wollongong) is a great place to live..........its only an electric train ride from Sydney( 1 and half hours)
It has great beaches,nightlife,shopping etc
A lot smaller city than Melbourne that still has a rural feel to it.
Would be much cheaper to live there,has the major supermarkets and other stores.
WAY less rain than Melbourne
Has a bus and train service,good schools too

Wollongong - 250,000 people, much smaller than Melbourne, cheaper.
Melbourne - Population: 3,000,000, nice people. Transport & costs really depends where you live.
