I've looked around a bit but all I've found are questions on how to stop picking your lips, and I've had the "problem" for a while but I mostly strip off the top layer of skin when it's peeling and almost never to the point where I start bleeding.

What I want to know is this really a problem? If so then why?

Hmm. I was picking my lips when I read that. I am not a regular lip picker, but in winter when they start to get chapped I can't hep it sometimes. I wouldn't say its normal, but it isn't weird. Just try to keep them moisturized because if they aren't dry it is hard to find a place to start picking at- you have to work at it more.

But definatly try to stop because depending on your age it can be a real problem. Kissing is a big one and also if you are at work or in school, odds are you talk to a lot of people on a regular basis and when you are talking they are looking at your mouth a lot and if they are unkept, it won't look too nice.

I always bite the peeling skin off my lips..
but you shouldnt! it just opens into a cut and makes it even worse..=[
Put some vasaline on your lips, then wait for a few mins, then brush your lips witha tooth brush to get rid of the flakes
then wipe the vasaline off.
It should leave your lips very soft and without flakes.
Get a good chapstick that has long lasting moisture to keep your lips from becoming chapped!

Try to stop. I bite my lips and the inside of my lips to peel off the skin and I have to go in tomorrow and get surgery to remove a fluid filled bump that resulted from me doing that...

properly it won't supply u maximum cancers. it will make twelve months lips seem undesirable tho if u keep that habit. do not purely use chapstick as anybody's telling u ! the next day u will nonetheless have pores and skin peeling off cos chapstick is completely a band-help answer. u might desire to gently exfoliate twelve months lips utilising a mushy toothbrush, perchance 2x each and every week or each and every time u experience like it. THEN prepare chapstick. or vaseline....

i pick my lips when they are chapped, but maybe you could prevent from doing this by using a lot of lip balm and chap stick. once you start doing that your lips won't start to peel, and you will eventually grow out of the habit.

i don't believe it is a serious problem, just a bad habit like cracking your knuckles or biting your nails.

it might be a small problem, because ur skin will peel itself off if it needs to. but maybe its just kinda like any other habit. i dont really think u should keep doing it, u could ruin ur lips. which would blow.

well, if you get a piece of skin w/a pinch of the non-chapped skin, yu're gonna get a scar. if you're pulling skin off too much.

try to alleviate the dryness w/a coco-butter lip balm, & not pick at it.

take care of those lips, they protect you ......

Yes, it looks disgusting while you do it, and unkempt to have peeled lips. [ very unkissable ]
If you aren't using a lip balm with sunscreen, you could get skin cancer on the lips![ very, very unkissable ]
1] use your toothbrush before you wet it or apply paste, and gently brush lips - will remove loose 'flakes'.
2] apply a moisturizing lip balm before bed, and before you go outside.
3] quit licking or picking lips.
