"Psychosis" used to be a general term for any kind of severe mental illness.
But the current definition of Psychosis is when someone has hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't there) and/or delusions (believing things are happening that no one else believes are happening; like paranoia--"people are plotting against me", grandiosity--"I am Jesus Christ", erotomania--"Jennifer Lopez is in love with me").
Somebody could have psychosis in addition to anxiety or depression, but it is a different type of symptom.
The "classic" psychotic disorder is Schizophrenia.
Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder are Affective or Mood Disorders. Sometimes people have Major Depression or Bipolar Disorder with psychotic features, but that's not the same as having Schizophrenia.
Anxiety Disorders are things like Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Social Phobia, Panic Disorder, etc. Some people with PTSD have psychotic features like hallucinations.

I have bi-polar with psychosis.
In my case, it was insanity and I was put in a mental hospital both times. I now take Geodon (40 mg) for that disease. It works fine.
So--- yeah, psychosis is different.
What's it like?
It's extremely cool-- I had all these crazy delusions-- about conspiracy theories, and symbols and tech cults and robots and time travelers.. it was really complicated and beautiful. I saw everything normally, but I had some big elaborate story behind it. It was AMAZING. I was also really paranoid though.

Depression and anxiety are not psychosis. They are all distinctly different diagnoses with their own specific criteria. Also, these are associative disorders, not diseases. Disease is bacterial or viral in nature and this differs greatly from afflictions of the mind.
Consult the DSM IV, the psychiatric diagnostic manual for more on this and other related topics.
