Walking an hour may not be the best thing to do. It might be better to walk at a slightly brisker pace (average walking speed is 3.2 miles per hour- try walking at around 3.6 to 3.7).
Try running slowly for short periods of time too. It will burn calories, and help with overall weight loss, but to really get a trim tummy you will need to add some abdominal exercises too. Sit-ups and crunches and twists and such will help.
But keep in mind some women will never have a flat stomach because that is just the way their bodies are shaped.

You should set the elevation on the treadmill up. Increase it gradually, and you'll really drop the weight. It will work. If you want rock hard abs though, you'll probably need to do some situps unfortunately. But, yes, the treadmill is a great way to lose weight. I walk on average 2 miles a day on one, and I dropped 10 pounds in a month and a half.

80% of weight loss comes from dietary changes. Exercise is for your health and toning. Walking will certainly help with your overall weightloss goal, but you're going to have to do more than that to get toned abs and be in shape for swimsuit season. Start with the walking and as your endurance increases, work up to some areobics and weights. And yes, you'll do some ab crunches/sit-ups as well as change what you eat.

It won't give you a flat stomach. But, making a conscious effort to suck in while you walk will help tone up your stomach a bit. As far as losing weight, walking certainly helps, but you've got to look at how much you're eating too.

Just walking, probably not. Slower workouts burn fat, whereas faster ones work your heart (cardio), but I think you might have to do more than a mere walk. Maybe some speed walking? Light jogging? Some light ab workouts wouldn't hurt, and would help tone your abs (also, with stronger abs, they can help your posture, which will make your belly look flatter)
