I'm doing a science project and its pretty common. I'm doing Acid Rain and its effects on plant growth. Now, originally I wanted to just use something simple... like carrot seeds but my mom said she wouldn't be able to find them because they're out of season, so I picked basil seeds. Anyway, I turned in my topic approval sheet and my teacher returned it with a few questions.
He wanted to know:
Why basil seeds?
I told him,"Because they grow fast enough for me to do the experiment in the amount of time given and because a lot of other seeds were out of season"
but he told me that I might want to have more of a scientific reason, or to pick new seeds, still with a good reason why.

and

How will I make this project more interesting and different then ones done in the past?

I wasn't sure on this one.... So far what im doing pretty much is having 8 test groups with different amounts of acid rain used in them and I will be recording what i notice in a nb.

Suggestions?

a more scientific reason is basil is an edible herb, so we need to know how much it is affected by acid rain. an edible subject plant data can change dietary habits. .http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu.gqtU1H1xQAZn1XNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTE5dWo5amM4BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDNgRjb2xvA2FjMgR2dGlkA0Y4NjJfMTIxBGwDV1Mx/SIG=120b267k1/EXP=1196361386/**http%3a//www.gourmetseed.com/basil_seed.0.html
