What the Rabbis say is that ALL the laws ARE true, its just a practical matter which prevents us from fulfilling some of them. In the case of killing the Amalekites- the practical matter preventing us from fulfilling that law is the fact that the Amalekites diddapeared millenia ago and no longer exist as an identifiable group! Since you cannot identify them, you cannot act against them.
As for rabbinacal laws- they ar enot additions to the laws, but fences (gezeirot) they put arund the Torah laws to prevent accidental transgressions. Guess what- the permission for us to do this is in the Torah! They only do it within allowed parameters and in allowed situations- a Rabbinical law NEVER transgresses or causes one to transgress a law mi'd'oraiso (from the Torah- written or oral) but only makes it harder to perform such an action.

If you notice Adam made one key mistake.
He added onto the law without saying he made an addition.
What he should have said was "you are forbidden to eat from the tree, and I think it would be best not to touch it"
That is the difference between Rabbinic and Biblical law, one is the actual prohibition while the other is a "fence" to prevent someone from trangressing it.
As for permitting things that were forbidden, or the Amalikite case, that is not allowed, and they are still in effect.

Adam and Eve is a faerie tale, and the truth is something that has always been distorted for maximum brain-washing..
"If the truth is that ugly -- which it is -- then we do have to be careful about the way that we tell the truth. But to somehow say that telling the truth should be avoided because people may respond badly to the truth seems bizarre to me." --Chuck Skoro, Deacon, St. Paul's Catholic Church

The Law is found in the Hebrew Bible. If the Hebrew Bible is not "true," then neither Christianity nor Islam can be "true."
If you want authority for Christianity, then don't knock Judaism!

Man is always trying to have it his way. Look at burger king they know what man wants to hear that is why they made that commercial that said have it your way. Look at what the lawyers & judges are doing to the constitution of the U.S.A. they have watered it down that it is almost impotent. If we the people do not do something about it we are going to pay the price for our negligence. In Rev. 2:19 God gives a warning to those that mess with His word. Peace!!!

Most of jewish law consists of add-on precepts - in the mishnah, the kabballa, most of all the talmud. They only have a flimsy basis in the formal hebrew scripture. You do have a point about adam being the first to add to divine teachings.

Dear Friend,
Your statement does not demonstrate that God's Word was changed. You need to read the Hebrew word for "die" in that context. The word die here doesn't mean that they would drop dead on the spot.
Genesis 2:17 says, "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Genesis 3:3 says, "But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die."
Remember, the Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek. You need to refer to these translations via a Strong's Concordance and a Greek/Hebrew Lexicon to understand what words were used for different contexts in the verses.
Here's a great example. I love my husband and I love my children. But it's not the same kind of love. Does that make sense? The word "die" is the Hebrew word...Muwth (verb). It can mean spiritual death and/or physical or both. Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, their consequence would be death. Physical ...a "designated time of death" and spiritual death/separated from God.
That is why Jesus had to come...to reconcile us back to our Heavenly Father.
In His service,
lostnsavd...
