My friend goes to an Apostolic Church and the problem is when they all get to speaking in tongues no one can hear the Pastor. The Pastor encourages people to speak in tongues as often as they can, claiming that he probably does it more than any other single church member. He is just asking that they do it quietly. How do you control the Holy Spirit's volume? This is a real situation and a serious question. Thanks for your help.

I had a volume control installed under my left ear. Works great.

Just because you speak in tongues does not mean you don't have control over what you do..I too, speak in tongues but if the Pastor ask you to tone it down,,then you should...it doesn't make you more righteous because you pray louder than anyone else...although,,,God does say.."Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord"...so there is a time to just let go and let God make a move....hopefully you have a Pastor who understands that you don't quench the spirit of the Lord when he is moving on a congregation..

First you need to understand what "speaking in tongues" really means..
No matter what people tell you.. a "tongue" is meant to mean "a different form of communication".

For example
Someone says "what's your native tongue"... You can interperate this in two ways.. your "language" or "communication means".

My native tongue is "performing". I am a Professional dancer and Choreographer and consider my "tongue" a visual one.

So to answer your question about how to control the "volume".. you don't! If you hold back on what and who you are.. then you deny yourself therefore denying God.

I have my teachings in what My "tongue" is with videos and scripture.. here..

Tongues are under the complete control of the individual. As it says about prophesying: 1Corinthians 14:32; ' ... and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets'.

Most modern churches come equipped with a MUTE BUTTON on the podium the pastor can easily shove into his suit pocket and keep it out of sight. Just tell him to shove it.
