That's the easy part, the hard part is keeping that conversation going while simultaneously steering the topic away from the inevitable subject of barnacles.
"Hey, whatsup?" Or "what's that?" depending on which is most applicable. Introduce yourself and ask her name if required. The next sentence is most crucial, it can be pretty much whatever you want, but steer clear of woodlice, the digestive system, the reproductive system, lightning striking squirrels, the field of antivenom development and especially the taxonomy of barnacles, though that is delaying the inevitable at best.

If in personal, the best way to start is to compiment her in some way!! Next try showing her how down to eath you are by discussing things such as tv (I love New york, etc.), politics (Campaign 08), and your favorie hobbies or activites. This may spark her and she may be the "leader" of the conversation! You want to show her that you are a well-rounded, interesting individual and you want to "score" points wth her!! Good Luck!!

try and make her laugh. comment/say something funny and ur sure to grab her attention. if that's not ur thing then try just talking to her about something u know u have in common.
