Porridge is the old name for oatmeal.

Broth is the juice or liquid after something is cooked in it.

I guess the liquid oats are cooked it could be called broth. :-)

broth is basically water with flavoring. Easiest broth I've made is chicken (put chicken in pot with water and spices and boil over low heat for a couple of hours.) Porridge is crushed oats that are boiled. It can be oatmeal its just the prep is differnent that the oatmeal we know. End result is rather thick.

To me, broth is clear soup and porridge is cooked oats (made with water and salt)
