There are 2 other sites that I know of.
One is "Autocheck" & the other is "DMV.org"
http://www.autocheck.com/?siteID=0
http://www.dmv.org/vehicle-history.php
I prefer Autocheck because I like the layout better than Carfax & I think it is easier to read and understand. Autocheck is a little less expensive & gives the same kind of data so therfor I feel that it is a better value.
NO database is completely accurate so I would ALWAYS recommend a physical inspection by a qualified source.

Even the pay site of CarFax can't tell you every accident a vehicle was in, some are just not reported in the public forum. The best way to know is to have the vehicle inspected by a good mechanic. Once it's up on the lift you can see signs of damage. It may cost a little for the inspection, but you could also save a lot by having it done.

The Carfax report tells you that they don't have every accident and they have over 20,000 data sources.
Get the carfax, do a test drive and get a mechanic to inspect the car - combined that is the best you can do!

The best way to find out is an in person inspection by a qualified mechanic. That is the best. Carfax only has records of registration activity and if a car was taken to a shop for collision repair and such.
