This is the Religion & Spirituality section after all. So when did that happen? I've always heard it takes a lot of faith to swallow some of the theories.

Evolution is no more science than creation is. Creation as it is written in Genesis is merely a rendition of redemptive history. It is NOT a science lesson. Creationism is more of a science based subject with no more or less "proof" than evolution. If you want to look to science, then you must have testable, duplicable and clinically objective experimentation practices. Creation had no human witnesses only divine. Evolution would fall into the same suit. Both can be simulated, but are not "provable" beyond a shadow of a doubt. So, because there must be faith based on believed truths, it is a religious theory just as creation is. Hope this helps.

It hasn't become a religion.

It's creationists who keep bringing it here. We'd love to just keep science in the science section where it belongs. They just won't let it alone. They post ignorant questions based on lies and misinformation, and then try to use that misinformation to try to challenge the theory of evolution. Funny thing is, they have NO evidence of their own to present against the theory, so they just keep posting things like "If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys..."

My theory is they're just trying to make all scientists simply abandon the theory out of frustration with the same old nonsense repeated over and over and over..

Evolution is here so frequently because it has been made into a religious issue by some religious people who, for various reasons feel threatened by the concept and prefer to believe that groundless mythology trumps well-founded evidence any day of the week and twice on sundays.

Because the way we evolved is in conflict with the creation story people made up in the bible. So to try and make the bible seem more credible, religious peole who don't know much about it try to discredit it here. I'd like to see somebody challenge evolution with "intelligent design" over in the Science section.

It didn't, some people just can't understand the difference between empirical science and religious stories. Also, anything that contradicts their beliefs must be a seperate religion.

It's used to challenge creationist theory... Which is religion oriented... therefore, it is worth some discussion here.

It in and of itself is not a religion, strictly speaking, but I believe that it's philosophical underpinnings are religious in nature, so I suppose I don't really know and am just prattling on like I do. That's what we do here right?

Evolution is science and it is shot down by Christians to try promote their favorite pseudo-science called "Intelligent Design".
