You are still under the grace of God but you really need to get rid of that sin. Make plans ahead of time to not do it again.

In some ways you need to be more specific in your question. If it's personal and you don't want to share details, that's fine but you're sacrificing a few degrees of clarity with the answers you'll get.
The sin probably depends on what it is, but recognize that the many denominations sometimes view different things as sins and with different degrees of severity.
It's also important (if this is what's troubling you), to recognize that it is virtually impossible, with what we know of modern science and what the laws of modern society permits, to take and follow the Bible literally on its every word. Even fundamentalists are prone to pick and choose which verses to follow and which verses to ignore (to claim to be no longer relevant). For instance, in Leviticus, along with passages condemning homosexuality, there are also passages saying you shouldn't eat pork. You'll also find passages throughout the Bible about how women shouldn't speak in church, how you should kill unbelievers, and that the punishment for breaking any of the Ten Commandments is death (pretty harsh for someone working on Sunday). So, if you're a hypocrite than so are they.
But most importantly, I would wonder whether this sin (whatever it is) is really harmful in an objective way. If you're not harming anybody or yourself, what is wrong about it? If the only reason against it that the Bible says you shouldn't do it, I don't think that's enough of a reason not to do it.

My Dear, God tells us in His Word that "The spirit Is willing, But the Flesh Is weak". Now, doesn't that sound like He Knows if and when we are going to stumble? Yes, He KNOWS, And guess what? He still Loves you just the same.....When You ask forgiveness for what you do, He is always willing to forgive. But He does say " GO, and Sin no More". That is what he wants us to do. But each time, He will still forgive, and work on us some more, Until we no longer want to Hurt Him by repeating the Sin. When you are tempted to do it again, Ask Him to help you. He has already said "He will make a way Of escape." So, Just pray, Believe, and Trust Him My Dear. You will become the Victor not the Victim. O.K?

First know and believe that GOD is always with you. Well first stop beating yourself up over stumbling, during life. Life is long. Not something like a sit-com (30 minutes) or a miniseries (what 7 1 hour shows.) It's messy, and harder than people let on at times.
Reset your goals smaller. Break you your total goal into manageable smaller goals that when reached support the other smaller pieces to accomplish the large total goal.
Get a support network, of family and friends. OR strangers and professionals. OR some combo of either. If medical seek medical professional help.
GOD gifted humanity with the ability to learn, seek answers, and help others heal. So professionals need to be investigated.
5 years on a life time path is quite a feat. I am glad your happy. Please stop being so hard on yourself if you stumble. I do this, and it never helped me yet. (I'm ancient so please try and stop, ok.)
GOD is with you, so be patient and have faith in yourself and GOD, ok.
Peace.

We humans are not perfect, and we will always make mistakes, sometimes out of habit other times it just happens... To NOT do something over and over again is very hard, especially if you had been doing it for a very long time. Look at it this way. How long had you been making this mistake? How long before you did it the first time? How easy was it to continue doing it? With any habit, if you started out a long time ago and it took a long to to gain that habit, it will take you that much time to keep from doing it. The more often you keep from making that same mistake, the easier it will get to stop. It will take time, but in the long run you will break yourself of that habit once and for all. I wish you luck and you have my support if you need it!

Ok, first, God loves us no matter what. This is my problem with religion. They make you feel guilty for everything you do but he forgives us all for everything. Chances are, God knows what we are going to do and why we are here. As long as you do right whenever possible, you are entitled to a few slip ups. As long as they are not life threatening of course. What exactly are you falling back on? If you want, you can email me personally. I have done it all and I talk to God daily. I have been blessed my whole life even though I have screwed up royally. Don't let anyone, especially religion, make you feel bad. You are human.
Take Care and God Bless you always!

There are two things in Psalms that help me when I am down.
Psalms chapter 23
and Psalms 61: 8-13
These really help me. Just keep the faith and trust in God for all things. God knows your heart, and He will never leave you. We all find our selves in hard places sometimes. But that is when we need to trust God the most. Have you ever heard the "Foot prints in the sand poem. You should find a copy and keep it where you can see it. We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, but that is why He sent Jesus, to pay for those sins. So just hang in there. And God Bless You

Shorty:
Please, please lighten up on yourself...if you have bad habits (or "sins") that you want to eradicate from your life, you must develop a plan to overcome them.
God's grace is a wonderful gift, and one of the ways that He has shown us Grace is by giving us the use of reason, the ability to solve problems and the gift of friends and family to help and support us.
If you are confronted by a recurring temptation that you do not want to succumb to you must first realize that it is out there and face it. Pray for strength, but develop a plan of action.
Know when you are likely to confront this overwhelming temptation. If you can, just avoid it for awhile until its hold on you is not as strong. If that is not possible, enlist the help of friends and family to be there and support you at this time...or use methods to replace the thing you want to avoid if it is a bad habit. People trying to quit smoking use chewing gum, or they drink a glass of water or orange juice (which rids the body of nicotine).
Exercise is great for trying to break any kind of bad habit, because it produces endorphins, or "feel good" hormones, which balance our moods, help us feel more positive in general, and give us a little boost in dealing with stress and staying away from things we do not want or need in our lives. Get out and go for a walk.
It is often good to have a talk with a trusted friend, family member or religious counselor about the problems you are dealing with.
But have friends to talk with about other things, too. Fun, cheerful activities are a vital part of life. Do not forget to smile and "smell the roses".
Don't be withdrawn...go out and volunteer...'tis the season, after all!
Finally, medical help may be appropriate for you.
Remember that God was the One who inspired the scientists and doctors to find the drugs and develop the therapies that have helped to save people's lives and to bring wholeness out of hurting. There are even low cost or free services that can help you find the service appropriate for you...ask some place like your local Red Cross or Salvation Army to direct you.
Mostly, Shorty, remember that you are dearly loved...you are a precious child of the Creator and you deserve goodness and mercy.
I will be praying for you to find the peace and happiness you seek.

God is not slapping you down! God's love for you sees beyond your flaws and failures. He has paid the price for you to be able to overcome every weakness in your life. God is waiting for you to take hold of His Word and rise above every circumstance in your life by renewing your mind to His word.
Mt:26:41: Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Rom:4:19: And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
Rom:8:3: For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
I would encourage you to read Romans chapter 8
and Romans 12:1&2
1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Read the scriptures out loud that minister strength to you, that speak freedom and victory to your heart. When you read them out loud you will recognize a stronger impact in your life that will renew your mind and bring your flesh into line.
Stumbling happens but the more you subject yourself to the things of God the less likely you will be to sin. Thats GREAT NEWS! Pray, and pray according to what you are being shown in God's Word. Remember that the Holy Spirit is your comforter, your guide, He will help you every step of the way!

Have you ever thought of getting an accountability partner? I have found that this works very well. Try to find another christian friend that you can trust and talk to them about trying to overcome sin in your life. You do not have to go into the intimate details. Get together to talk once a week or so and talk about what you think it was that caused you to weaken. There usually is a pattern to sin. Satan is always watching us and he will attack you at the moment he knows that your guard is down. Try not to get to tired, hungry, angry or stressed. You must keep your guard up at all times. Remember Satan prowls around waiting to attack. Watch for him!!

God never said you would not be tempted. In fact he said you will be. But he also said that he will always leave you a means or avenue of escape . You have to recognize and take that avenue when it presents itself. When you do not immediately take the escape provided you usually will succumb to the temptation. Here is what I do. Pray every morning that God will give you strength to resist the devil and his temptation. Pray that he will give you strength tomorrow and the next day and the next week , & next month & etc. You must purpose in your mind that when temptation comes , and especially temptation for your pet sin, that you are going to flee in that escape route or fight it, or do whatever is necessary to avoid falling into sin. Remember it is not a sin when you are tempted only when you succomb to the temptation have you sinned. You can do it. This is a fight all Christians must go thru. No one said it would be a cake walk serving God. You must gird up your loins and continue the fight. Never give up., never say die , never lose hope , never ever stop trusting Jesus. When you stumble he will be there to pick you back up and continue the fight. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Those who endure to the end the same shall be saved. Ask your Pastor to help you pray... Dont hang out in the places where this temptation comes to you. Dont hang out with people who would lure you into this sin. Read God's word, ask for prayer from friends and family, and pray pray pray. Here are some verses to help.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5 ......he ( God) hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
James 4:7 Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
God bless you, I am praying for you ...
