Because prayer isn't like doing a spell, Suze. This prayer is given as an example of coming to God and relating to Him as our good, spiritual Father.
I know you are being flippant, joking around, but if you had ever met Jesus and the Father, you would be doing more than joking.
God really loves you more than anyone has ever loved you. His Son came to deal with a spiritual "debt" you owe and can't pay! (just like me) Spiritual death is the penalty for all sin. Thanks to Jesus you don't have to die and be separated from God for eternity. The debts of this particular prayer is spiritual debt - the kind you will never be able to repay yourself. Jesus already paid for you, all you have to do is "Ask and you WILL receive"!
God has even helped my husband and me to pay off our monetary debts, except for our mortgage and a vehicle. He seriously does care about everything. The only hitch for you is that you have to have some faith. You don't seem like faith is a big part of your life. He would be glad to help you change that!
Thankfully, God has a great sense of humor. He loves a good joke. But sometimes serious thought is needed.
God has been a wonderful Father to me, (my own wasn't so good)! I remember how I used to feel when the debts mounted up and that is NO JOKE. Think about what I've written, I really care about you - (it is never about points to me)

Blasphemy is not very impressive to me.
No where did Jesus pray, "forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors" so that is not a prayer from the Lord.
For God to hear us, we must have obeyed Him and become a child of his, having entered into the Kingdom according to the Bible. To have our sins forgiven, we must change our way of living and depart from the sin. He says to owe no man anything... Ro 13:8 Pay everything you owe. But you can never pay back all the love you owe each other. Those who love others have done everything the law requires.
Sorry, as you see, you are never told you will be relieved of your financial debts by prayer. Instead, you are told not to make them in the first place.

There's a lot more to prayer than just reciting words. You made some mistakes and now you're paying the natural consequences of those mistakes. It's a learning process; God isn't just going to make it all go away. What have you learned from the experience? Make restitution, do your best to remedy the situation, and learn from it; don't make the same mistakes again.
By the way, "forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors" refers to our "faults, offences, or sins"; not our literal debts that we may owe someone.
Eccl. 5:4-5
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
2 Kgs. 4: 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and PAY THY DEBT, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

This is the original version of what became known as the Lord's Prayer...
My spirit, you exist within omnipotence.
May your name be holy.
May your kingdom incarnate itself within me.
May your power unfold itself within me, on Earth and in the heavens.
Give me today my daily bread, that I may recognize my wrongdoings and the truth.
And lead me not into temptation and confusion, but deliver me from error.
For yours is the kingdom within me and the power and the knowledge forever.
Amen.
This is from 'The Talmud Jmmanuel' material.
Now perhaps you can see why your version doesn't work ---
and also the Christian version, why that fails too...

Debts are not always about money...and just because you pray that prayer,,,does not mean,,,you debts are forgiven....you must first forgive others their debts....if you don't forgive others,,,God will not forgive yours....and just for the record....if you are not a child of God..washed in the blood of the Lamb,,,,don't expect to get an answer from God...God does not hear a sinner's prayer unless it is unto repentance...

Your spiritual debts are forgiven. However, Household Bank will still be taking cash. God ain't Rich Uncle Pennybags. That would be Bill Gates, and he's already given to charity this year.

When you go to bed at night and put the lights out and you're just laying there, clear your mind, close your eyes, and say, "la ilaha illa-llah" Repeat that over and over again for several minutes and you should feel at peace with yourself. Just try it and then tell me if it works or not. Anyone who reads this is welcome to do so also. I'd appreciate if you guys could try it just like I said then email me with the results. Thanks.

You don't believe. This is a joke to you. God can forgive you, but you still have to pay for your purchases. His love is free.
He will forgive you. The people you bought things from want the money that you owe them.

God does not deal in money, only your soul. Your interpretation of the words is incorrect. It has nothing to do with money. So go and pay your bills and don't over spend.

See if Kenneth Copeland has an answer -- he has a Jesus-funded sport plane, and probably has a lot of debt-related answers....
