Once in a while I get a backache and it just feels that pulling on my feet would relieve it. One time I hooked up some pulleys so I could do this and it seemed to help but I couldn't pull too hard as I just dragged myself across the floor.

That is what a lot of people use one for. There are also some yoga postures that help when you put your back out. Yoga is good when it is not out too because it makes you more flexible and stronger so you will not get back aches so easily

I used to have the same idea, 'if only' and I thought that if I could locate a Castle, perhaps they might have a rack that I could use? Take note, Astronauts who spend time in zero gravity return to Earth and many have problems! While in zero gravity, the Discs in the spine are not compressed, so have no pull on them. Once they return to gravity, OUCH! Therefore inversion table, Castle rack, hanging upside down from a door bar, will bring relief, but as soon as you stand up, OUCH! Therefore swimming is the only option. The body weight is reduced by the buoyancy of the water and you can exercise to build up the muscles, which will support the spine. Not sure if you have checked out Aqua Jogging? They place a larger floatation belt on you and you go into the deep end. First time I felt a wee bit sea sick, yet have spent time on Ships in Storm Force conditions, never felt sea sick. Once that passed I realized I was like a buoy. The ribs up were out of the water, while the ribs through the lumbar spine were under water and the weightlessness excellent. Warning, first time you will get to the swimming pool stairs, start to climb up and as soon as the belt leaves the water you will stagger, wondering where all this 'weight' came from. I am 8 stone, so small, but it felt as if I was 20 stone, nearly fell back into the pool! Now the only real problem I have, I do not want to get out of the pool! Good Luck
